My heart goes out to all those in the Gulf area suffering from this incredible weather event.
And appreciate the OPs and others reaching out to offer help.
If you're not sure what to do sending a few bucks to the Red Cross or some local charitable action organizations is always helpful.

The affects of this storm is going to be felt for a long time. At some point there might be request for clean up volunteers. But don't just rush down there with shovel in hand. Research the proper channels and follow protocols.

Please stay safe and give if you can to the Red Cross
