Well I am brand new to the hobby. BUT I did have an interesting experience on a cam website.

I was surfing the girls (one of those sites that let you watch for free and pay for private shows) when I saw a woman that looked strikingly like a girl I dated in high school. Watched for awhile, then she turned around and I saw these two moles on her tushy and this memory hits me of joking with the girl I dated in high school about how her two moles looked like a vampire bit her butt.

I can't help myself but type her real first name into the chat window. I see her eyes go wide and she immediately shuts off her cam. I never told her about it (I figure its her secret) but in retrospect sort of wish I had paid for a private show without revealing myself. I never got below the belt in high school.

I have to agree.  That was not professional or considerate in any way

I thought he raised an interesting question. I don't see where he talked about shouting anyone out.

He was a former... academic colleague...

But I have also had the experience of pre-screening someone from my civilian world that was a little too close to home.

I was in a well known florida college town for overnight meeting. Found a very hot little asian-american girl advertising on backpage. (No face pictures) Called, and when she showed up at my hotel...IT WAS MY FRIEND AND NEIGHBORS 20 Year old daughter! Both of our jaws hit the floor when I opened the door. She came in, whereby we had a drink and talked for a while...both promising to never talk about the encounter again. Me promising to not tell her dad, she promising to not tell my wife.
No, we did not have sex, although I think she was willing, I couldn't bring myself to it. We now just knowingly smile at each other when we occasionally see each other...kind of in a secerative kinky way.

I think I would have handled your encounter with a little more  decorum. Instead of embarrissing her in the public chat, would have scheduled a private show, let her know who I was and that I admired her and liked what she was doing, and then take it from there!

To me that statements reeks of holding power over a Provider, Cam girl…I know your “secret” and then to say her name for the shock value or her reaction “I know who you are”…(it works both ways BTW). This hobby of ours IS a Secret Society…better to STFU, even on a web cam. Being a newb, he needs to learn a little more about discretion. Even as a newb, it’s just common sense to say nothing.

If you find that “interesting”, well then, maybe that’s just how you roll. Not me. Discretion is best.

I've had a handful of people from my social circle say something in public to me after recognizing me online. I'm used to people trying to throw me off balance, making judgements and what have you so when they called me out I never batted an eyelash or react in any way. This is why I privatized my galleries. Even so, one of them acted like a potential client, gained access to my galleries and engaged in email conversations with me. He would never had come clean if he hadn't been foolish enough to email me from his work address where his full name is displayed. When I finally recognized him I went off!!!!!! I felt violated, stalked and scared that he was going to expose me in a really big way. I'm sure the girl you flipped the switch on felt the same way. I'm usually a sweetheart on the board and tend not to have anything negative to say to someone who's so new to the hobby but I have to agree with everyone else on this one --- you handled yourself poorly and you had to know in some way that you were pulling a power trip or upper hand game on her. I realised after I had typed her name that it was an error. I have experianced other similar situations, just not hobby related, and handled myself with far more decorum. I actually bumped into a coworker in drag once. I pretended not to know him at the club. He came to me the next day freaking out and i just told him "i saw a cute girl that could have bren your sister last night.

In my defense i have kept her secret all these years and always will.

AGREE Laney...but I am going to cut him some slack...he's new to this and reaching out for advice and comments...so I think he is learning from these threads and posts...which is a good thing.

For all she knows, you could've been her uncle, cousin, next door neighbor, preacher, etc.

I bet it scared the crap out of her.

I saw a girl I know on a website escorting! Same tattoos and face. For some reason she didn't blur her face. I tried to schedule a meeting to see her, but looks like she may have tried it out for a week and quit lol. She has two reviews, but the agency doesn't list her as active and she isn't on the girls lineup either. The bookmarked link I have still works, but I don't think I'll ever be able to see her. I wanted to surprise her haha
