I was in the visitors' gallery at the US Senate when Republicans repealed a previous Administration ban on Internet Service Providers (ISP)  from giving out a person's web browsing history to third parties.    Now Comcast, Time Warner, Spectrum etc., from whom you get your internet service can give out details to a third party.

What it means to us?   Loss of our privacy, exposes what we do on the internet to unscrupulous people who can use it to blackmail.    Our personal information is now at risk.   The list of possible damaging things that can happen is big.

The number of people that were conned by the current prez is something I'll never understand.  

And I'm not a dem (Have voted for both parties in my lifetime), but this clusterfuck was obvious.

many companies already do this to you! FB, Google and Amazon come to mind.  

The Govt says they want to do this to allow Comcast, etc to be able to compete with other companies that already are out there........ selling YOUR info!!

Ever notice how after you've Googled something like "Cabins in the Rockies" or some such, that you get slammed with all sorts of Pop-Up Ads for cabins in the Rockies? Your Google Search now has you followed!

Amazon and other places also may be sharing your purchase info with others, that then generate more Ads, promotions, etc all to get you to buy MORE!

Face it, there is no more real privacy anymore. All your electronics are all so intertwined, all your online biz, purchases, Searches, online banking, your cable TV and Internet, your smart phones, the Nav System in you car.......... even my home electricity use is now read via a satellite!

For my hobby stuff, I use a long forgotten about laptop, using a Windows system that barely works. I log in via IE, That old laptop is deeply hidden in the house and only gets pulled out when I am alone.

I use a fake email name that I registered via a fake name in a state that I have never lived in.  I am using this old piece of crap laptop right now! I NEVER log in here or other hobby places with my smart phone or my regular laptop nor even the older one I used before that!

We all saw what happened to Hillary and her secret server. Even when 'wiped clean' stuff was still retrieved.......... she should have sent that entire computer system and server on a one-way, 100 mile trip offshore!

I keep my Location on my smart phone OFF....... I try to keep as 'invisible' to the Govt and to the world as I can. Maybe I need to go live in a cabin in the Rockies!

I agree, this is just NOT a good thing!

Depending on the browser you are using, you can set it to delete history upon exit the session.  

On Google, you have to manually clear it through use of 'settings'.

I already got the best DD-WRT and will set up my own VPN at home.   It will hide all my internet activity from my ISP.   I have a second computer network with WIFI for my company work and I don't do any hanky panky things over that network.

The House voted to rescind an Obama administration regulation requiring that cable customer opt in to allow data mining.  The regulation never took effect, so the bill that passed the Congress simply keeps the status quo, it does not provide any additional rights.  Cable customers can opt out and sensitive information like social security is already protected.  The rule that was rescinded did not apply to Google or Amazon in any event

My internet history is full of hooker sites and porn sites. Lol  

Would be kind of embarrassing having someone look through it.

https sites encrypt data during transmission over internet.    I do not enter any of my personal information or use CC in a site that is not https.   Also look out for "VeriSign" logo.    It guarantees that the web site protects your information.
