Can any one recommend a good place in that area? Have an event to attend, but don't want to be too far away. I noticed that El Palacio Sports Hotel is close but reviews on the net are very mixed. Rather not get stuck somewhere skanky or scary. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

I was looking for some first hand recommendations, especially from Miami area ladies who would have some insight, and maybe some opinions on the place I named. It's reviews on those hotel links run the spectrum from being great to a dump. Everyone has to be a comedian.

I've driven by it at least a hundred times. My gut tells me it's a lot closer to a dump then great. The Hard Rock is not far and that place can be a blast. Other than that I don't have any great recommendations for places to stay near "The Stadium Formerly Known As Joe Robbie Stadium" aka LandShark. You need to ge east into Hollywood/Aventura or west into Davie or Plantation to find a less skeezy place to stay.  I hope this helps.

...as someone pointed out, The Hard Rock is somewhat close and a beautiful facility.  The restaurants are great, the shopping is great and it a fun place to stay.  For the most part though, that is a tough area to find hotels.  If look further north/west into the Bonaventure area there are some nicer places to stay as well. It's not too far and convenient to get to.
