Knowing there are intelligent individuals who really understand and appreciate the value of the military makes it all worth it!! And for that percentage of Americans that is capable of overlooking our differences in Gender, Race, Religion, Personal Preferences etc.... "You're welcome and I do it especially for you!!" (USMC 4 ever)

From another veteran who also appreciates the people who willingly supported our efforts by affording us the best training and equipment that money could buy to protect both military personnel and freedom at home, may our liberty and freedom thrive forever. also USMC, Semper Fi.

Such a fantastic feeling when someone recognizes veterans. Am a 26 year Air Force Veteran and a Vietnam Veteran. Thank you for the kind comments. It makes my day.

I'm a navy vet, active in several veteran groups and now supporting our armed forces as a merchant marine.

I'm a Vietnam Vet so I would like to say a word on behalf of the people of Vietnam and the millions who died in the most bombed country in the history of the world, most of them civilians (more bombs were dropped on Vietnam than were dropped in all of WWII if you didn't know that). From birth defects due to Agent Orange poisoning to un-exploded line mines, reminders of what they call the American War never cease.

So on their behalf I would like to state for the record that at no time whatsoever did any of those people ever threaten the peace and safety of any American except for those who were at war in their country.

Why do u call it a thankless job? Veterans get thanked all the time. I hardly ever go any where they aren't thanking vets, at football games and even when I went to Sea World the other day. Before the Shamu they had all the vets stand up so everyone could clap. I didn't, BTW.

Usually when I make a post it shows up right away but not so with the first post I made on this topic and then a followup saying the same thing since it didn't show up.

Apparently there is a filter looking for certain words.

all-volunteer force for a long time.  So I don't understand your resentment at citizens thanking their protectors, a group you apparently declined to join.  Rather a twisted version of sour grapes; I can't stand the appreciation being shown to this group that risks danger, works in sometimes unbearable conditions, gives their lives for others, and which I'm not a part of because I chose not to be.  I'm sorry, bur WTF!!!

I concur. Of course, my family think I am a hippie when I mention these things. :)

Thanks for staring this thread Cinnamon!  There's probably a few other Vets on here that know what RLTW means.  This is a great country - even jerks like JLee567 can express their opinions.  You ladies are awesome!
