It's what South Florida used to be, when I was growing up!  Like everywhere, there are good and bad areas, but the West Shore area of Tampa is near the airport and is a centrally located very upscale area.

Can anyone provide insight on the safest, nicest cities in Florida?  I heard that Jacksonville, for example, has a high crime rate, especially for rape and assault.  Would appreciate a Floridian's pespective.

Thanks.

Crime is found anywhere however there are some cities safer than others based on many factors (resource allocation to the local police, demographics, income etc, although even taking all those into consideration you never know for sure). I live in Miami and there is an interesting phenomenon going on here, excellent neighborhoods are surrounded by really bad neighborhoods (think the proximity of Brickell to Overtown etc). I use to live in Palm Beach County before and mainly it was very very safe except for isolated incidents. I found a website that gives you statistics about incidence of crime in Florida so that should help you!

Thank you ladies for all of the insight.  I just here so much about FL being a hotbed for issues relating to crime and LE .

Im just curious what the quality of men are like Palm Beach v. Clearwater v Orlando for example...

Appreciate your input.

Sorry, but I had to chuckle when I saw someone from New York saying they'd heard Jacksonville wasn't safe!  Jax is fine honey.  After all, one of highest reviewed providers in the state is located there.

It's no different than any big city.  There are areas you avoid but overall it's a great place.  And the women there are lovely.
