For most change is never a good thing, even if things truly are better after a short acclimation period. I am not saying I like this format as there will be a small learning curve to get what I need out of it, but rather than simply state my dislikes I wanted to offer up a suggestion.
I know, as many have stated, there was nothing wrong with the old format not to mention we all were "set in our ways" in terms of finding info and communicating etc. What about offering the users an option (check box whatever) to auto expand all posts so that one can view all replies if they so choose. In terms of the menus, why not have a "favorites" menu where we can add various sections to our favorites and thus minimize the clicks needed to get to where we want. It seems as of right now it requires many more clicks to get to things than there was before. Just some initial thoughts, as I have not had a chance to really dive into this new format.
I can tell there are some bugs that need to be worked out.
I hate not being able to view all the replies to a thread at a single time. You need to open each one individually. Slows done the reading process. Either you're going to need to spend more time on TER or read fewer posts.
The newest one isn't at the top. They're all mixed up.
A new post may be several threads done.
1) too cluttered
2) more clicks
And more importantly, "What was wrong with the old format"?????? Nothing!
The simpler that it is (like the old format), the easier and quicker it is to read. Many guys don't have lots of "time" to spend here and I suspect that readership and VIP Membership will go down.
If it ain't broke, then leave it alone!
More cumbersome and not easy to navigate.
Yes, what problem does it solve?
it would be easy if you knew hw to use new format. heheheheh
is a time zone selection. That will be the beginning of fixing the posts on the boards, the rest will be the tech dept fixing it.
I agree with you Stud. Slows the reading process way down. And I know I'm not the only person with a busy life. I don't have time and it's just not as personable. I admit I am not a "geek" and this just makes it more difficult and time consuming. Might be bye bye for me. I do not have the extra time.

Couldn't agree with you more, 2cupsplease!......I know that it's just different, and that change is always awkward,......by I do NOT like it...........It is harder to navigate, harder to see, and I cant even find "view my posts"...............IT SUCKS.........Torre
Sometimes new things can freak me out a bit. But remember when we had black and white TV and no computers or remotes...new things are adaptable, and yes challenging, but then it becomes the norm. Oh, forgot to mention...don't remember those days, just hear say..LOL
But I really want to read everything at once.
You can put a dress on a pig but underneath, it's still a pig.
Why doesn't "admin", or anyone else involved in the decision making process, tell us exactly what was wrong with the old style?
Explain, clearly, why the change was made after the tremendous amount of negative feedback.
Maybe you'll get the picture when you see what happens to your web stats now.
Just another programmer trying to justify a paycheck by fixing something that is not broken.
I think navigation is easy, and the site seems fast. Of course it will take some getting used to, but I think it's an awesome new change for TER!

There are many changes that have already been and will be made. TER is working hard to get this right. Those of you who experienced the first release know how far it has come.

Everything everyone has stated is basically why I don't like it. Colors are too bright and hard on the eyes, opening of each message is annoying and the old version was great, Very simple and easy. This is more complex, i am also wondering why it was decided to change it...
why? that sucks....
As long as the discussion boards get a view all like you said, I think it will do quite alright.
Back to the Pool!
The old format was much much better.
the format.
Change is always difficult at first. I'm sure it will get better.
I think it is easy to get around..just getting use to it...
I was just getting familar with the old format. I joined a week ago so its not a big adjustment for me.
I don't want to waste time reading reviews I have already read. This version is much less productive then the older version of TER.
We are sending your best suggestions on to Admin and they will digest and adjust.
I like the look but its a pain in the ass having to open every post in a thread.
I also not like like that it bumps the thread

I agree with Stud85. I want to see all the posts on a thread at once.
Too much double spaceing, too much wasted space in general. Im looking at a lot of white here. Even on the review page I now have to scroll to see what used to be on one screen. Are we stuck with this? What a pisser!
I'm looking for ways to like it more orthe same as the previous format aand forways it is superior and inferrior to the previous format.
I was a little confursed to see it again.
Does that mean any post jumps to the top of the list just by adding something new to it.
There's a UK board I joined way back and posted without knowing what the hell I was doing. The subject was kissing and I thought " good way for me to introduce myself". Not so good and just looked like a real dumb blonde. The post was from over a year before and stupid me brought it to the front of the class.
Is this what happens with older posts here now ?
Could a debate last a lifetime of your hobbying days ?

Change is Good... I noticed when I posted my ad I see my thread was still on first page... this new form gives you a chance to have your ad post on the first page... now I see I'm on page 2.

nicer graphics but the discussion boards were much more user friendly before. Really need to fix that. Need to be able to open all the posts on a topic without a hundred clicks.
and I approve this msg.
Cheers
Perhaps if it can be posted, a list of all the New & Improved things would help to calm the complaints. So far, I don't see any. Maybe a software Sales guy bent someone's ear, but to change it just to change it or to make it slicker looking doesn't make mush sense to me at least.
One Improvement that I'd like to see is a more streamlined way to write Reviews. Filling in all the boxes when the first ever Reviewer's own Review is the one that everyone sees doesn't make sense.
Plus, some way to speed up the Approval of Reviews would be great. I recently saw a nice TER lady who travels and my Review was not Approved in time to help her with her next trip......
I would definitely like to a list of what is new and how it is an improvement. I am always looking through posts to see if a certain somebody has made any comments because he is simply brilliant, to me. Now I have to open every single post to see if the poster I like has made mention.
I don't feel that the new format is very well recieved IMHP.
