Where are the best places to go on the Westshore? My first visit to Tampa and I want to see it all! Food, fun and even dorky site- seeing. Suggestions please.

I can say that the Blue Iguana can be fun, but I've nothing to compare it to because I don't get out that much, and I only went once ... and I also have no idea how old you are (but when I was there every age was represented). I think someone suggested Ybor City to you in an earlier post- definitely worth a go! Blue Martini is in International Plaza which is a big mall with some good shopping. You'll not be far from Rocky Point, where there are some rockin' beach clubs that seem to go off on the weekends. Good Caribbean atmosphere! Music, food, drinks, sand, sun, and half-naked people. Can't go wrong.

A great Tapas restaurant is Ceviche near Hyde Park. If you're into art museums, try the Dali in St. Pete. Can't remember if you'll have a rental car or not.

Have fun!

Thank you so much! I definitely want to try out some of those clubs. I won't have a car so I may be somewhat stuck close to west shore. How safe is that area to explore by myself?

When will you be in Tampa Dedra?

Dedra:

The Fox Jazz Cafe is located in the Westshore area and is a pretty cool place, especially if you like live jazz. If you need a nice ride to get around and don't have a rental car, call a company called "Cab Plus" (I am not related to the company in any way) as they are totally upscale and only transport in Lincoln Town Cars.

I also second The Blue Martini. Ybor City is the nightlife area of Tampa. It is our Latin quarter. There are also a number of upscale gentlemen's clubs in the Westshore area, if those interest you at all.

If you get out of the Westshore area and want a really good place to eat, go see my friend Greg Baker, James Beard nominee, and his wife at their restaurant, The Refinery (see the link, below).

Have fun!

BTW, love Nawlins. Haven't been since the storm, but used to enjoy spending time there. I always enjoy a meal at Tujaque's when I'm in town.
