Re: Orlando
I don't have a dog in this fight either way. Don't know the OP at all, but I do think the concerted attacks against his post are a little out of line. Seems to me the criticisms run along the lines of:
Issue: He is ranting a bit since he can't seem to find an appointment in his limited time in Orlando, so he must be the one doing something wrong.
Response: Maybe he is having trouble finding a provider that meets his personal criteria. Sounds like he had at least one appointment lined up and got cancelled on last minute. Not exactly his fault. Haven't we all been in this situation? Travel to a new city, have a list of hopefuls, everything seems to fall through for one reason or another, and thus frustration sets in. Happened to me before. I didn't feel the need to post about it, but I understand his angst.
Issue: He is using an alias.
Response: Whatever. I am not even stepping into this can of worms except to say that I believe there are some instances when an alias isn't only reasonable, but downright necessary. This case? Who knows.
Issue: Based on the reviews associated with his alias, some people think he is an unreasonably critical reviewer or just trolls low-end providers.
Response: Since I joined TER, I have felt that the typical review score curve is shifted way too far to the high end. I have posted about this many times in the past, but simply gave up since it seems to only be getting worse, not better. But ... now I guess I will state my personal opinion one more time.

A score of 7 should be considered a good score by not only reviewers but providers as well. Who wouldn't want to be thought of as "attractive" and delivering a "hot time"? I believe the reason that providers take offense at a score of 7 now, is that too many reviewers for far too long have been handing out 9s and 10s like they are pennies off the sidewalk. Sure, when everyone around you - including women that most guys would not look at twice on the street - are averaging 8s and 9s, you want to be a 10. But here is the fact: not every one is "really hot", fewer still are "model material" and far, far fewer are 10s no matter how you define it. That is the way it should be. As it is now, there is almost no way to separate out the true top end providers from the average looking, middle-age, housewife-next-door that is piling 9s.

I admit, I am somewhat guilty myself. I feel many of my review scores are shifted about a point higher than they should be. My only excuse is that I knew that many reviewers will simply see a score of 7 and think of it as reflecting either an assessment of unattractiveness or a harsh review. I simply felt that neither applied, so I weighted my scores accordingly. If people would take the time to actually read the description in the body of the review, maybe they could understand a particular reviewer's perspective about such matters.
Now, if by some miracle we could get all reviewers to back off their rose-colored ratings, then maybe a 7 would be positive, an 8 would be very good, and a 9 or 10 would mean something special.
For those looking for something to flame me about, I will admit that I haven't submitted a review here in a while. Why? Because I was sick of being caught by the conundrum of whether to give a honest review and risk offending a provider whose company I enjoyed, or to simply keep skewing my scores and thereby continue to worsen an already difficult and nearly disfunctional system we have here.
