Long time no see!! For a great dinner, check out Burns Steakhouse in Tampa. Reminds me of an old brothel. Check out Ybor City area too. I'm sure some of the local Tampa guys and gals can come up with some other suggestions.

Have a great trip and think about coming to Orlando sometime.

A vast variety of unique restaurants and clubs.  Fun, eclectic night-life great to people watch!

I suggest The Columbians Resturaunt for dinner, then strole Ybor for the night life scene.
If not to join in, but it's also fun to people watch.
Enjoy your stay,
Xox

Charlies Steakhouse (small chain with 3 others in Orlando area) in the Westshore area is very good; although a notch below Burns but the check is easier on the wallet.

you might try Berns rather than Burns. Since you are coming here from Chicago it may be a letdown in terms of quality. Better off with the Latin food which comes in many fun and tasty styles.

put up against any restaurant in the world, be sure to take the free tour of the kitchen after you eat and the wine cellar, which features many wines from the 1800's-and also visit the dessert room. The food and service are unparalleled in my view and I've been going there for close to 30 years. Many of the veggies are grown by the restaurant on a farm and the attention to detail is amazing. Sprouts for the salads are grown from seeds flown in from England and all the steaks are trimmed from fat. The seafood is superb as well. As the erudite 2Cups alluded to, the decor has been described as 'whorehouse Gothic'-smile. And the other restaurants and places mentioned are 'can't miss' as well.  Enjoy your time here-Best wishes-1rob....OUT

Keystonekid,

I don't plan on worrying about my wallet.  Unless you Floridians plan  on me actually paying for my own food (gasp!).

I'm excited and hopefully will not have to dine at all during  my visit.  That would dampen my firework attitude;)

Do you own the place or something? Kidding!

Why don't you show me yourself, that could be fun and exciting!  Just an idea...

Go to Charley's for a good steak, much better than Berns. If you want a nice bar, go to Aquaknox in the Hyatt on Courtney Campbell Causeway.
