This might be a stupid question but is Daytona bike week and Daytona 500 the same thing? Trying to figure out which would be better to check out

Daytona 500 is NASCAR  bike week is all about motorcycles
Ill be at bike week lol both are fun just depends on what you like.

Daytona 500.....A "redneck" or country type of crowd. Most every person and event is at the race track. Most all the crowd travel there (from many states away) and stay and party on the infeild or have bleacher seats and camp outside the track. Food, gas money and ticket prices tend to add up,so many "camp" and party. I guess you'll find some buisness men that come down and entertain some clients in corporate suites at the track, but they are a small percentage of the crowd.Race team members are the "hotel" guys. They have rooms rented by the team and need the peace and quite after all day at the track. Once the race is over the crowds are gone and heading back home. A 4 to 5 day party at the race track is the weekend in a nutshell.
ike week is maybe 2 or 3 weekends after the race weekend. It is a somewhat diverse crowd centered around the Harley Davidson crowd but little crotch rockets are plentiful as well.
You will find it to be bikes and people all over Daytona. Every bar,every main street - BIKES and bikers. Live bands, street festivals, bike competitions , wet T shirt contests. Young, old , hippies , lawyers, doctors , young guys , you name it, you'll see it. CRAZY partying and people !

From a "providing" and making money aspect......I personally don't see that happening.

I'm not sure if you are talking about working or having a great time.

Guy was almost correct, but didnt see it in the providers prospective.

NASCAR is this coming weekend, well really it started last weekend where there were practices, qualifying and such.

There's money to be made in Daytona, during this time.  Not everyone is a redneck who comes to see the race. Many fans come from all over in their millions dollar 'tents' coach campers and like to put money into the local economy.  The pit crew, truck haulers and such are on the road for how many weeks a year? And they are human just like the businessmen who contact us as well.

Bikeweek is March 8-17 it's really grown into almost 2 weeks.  

Guy was correct in his explanation of Bikeweek. BIKERS EVERYWHERE. Ofcourse they are doctors, lawyers, Indian chiefs and even Priests. I know I hung out with all 4 for many years in a row. Great bunch of guys.  

You can get some business but it's mostly a party scene and the biker men and women seem to hook up with each other at 3am each night anyway lol

I have had some luck, but only because the  motorcycle races are also going on and there again  the million dollar coach camper fans, and such....

Rooms will always be the highest price all around the area (if you can even find one) for both events.

Im always available for any event, whether its NASCAR or BIKEWEEK.

I also invite any and all bikers to connect while Bikeweek is in effect. Last year a nice handful got together and had a great ride and a fun day.

Kyla: They are 2 VERY different events.Basically the Daytona 500 is only one actuall day, although they have several events for qualifing etc.
Bike week is really a week, ALL motorcycles, biker chicks etc.This one is probably more dangerous.

I'll be there and I always feel safe. Un like when I was in Laughlin Nv at the River Run 20 feet away from the gang shooting. Ride Gabby Ride

Harley, make sure and watch out for those idiots making left hand turrns right in front of you old buddy. You do not want to have to build another new bike!

As a 35 year local resident of my nearly 49 of existing I can attest that Cinnamon and GuyBeingAGuy are correct in their statements.

The danger in Bike Week are biker vs. car accident deaths but with the thousands of bikers roaming around the area and central FL for that matter it's bound to happen. Actually I am surprised there are not a lot more every year than actually occur..

Both events have had attendance decline in recent years since the economy fell flat and we are still in a soft economy. I notice it in the much lighter traffic during the Bike Week time frame.

Cinnamon mentioned races... The bike racing has it's own big event at the speedway called the Daytona 200.. not to be confused with the Daytona 500, NASCAR's biggest race and first of the NASCAR season nationwide.
