Hello all. We wanted to take a moment and update you as to the changes on this board.

We are taking a few of the boards in a new, well actually old, direction. This is one of the boards that we have chosen.

First, in no way have the moderators of this board done anything wrong. We do want to thank them for all of the hard work that they have done and hope that they stay as active as always. So that you so much for all of your help in the past, and hopefully in the future.

So were is this place headed? We have a great group of people who are on here every day, and that is a great thing. That being said, we have a large group of people who do not spend any time on the boards. We talked to many of these users and they say that this area of the site is scary to them, for many reasons. We understand that the boards are not tat welcoming to newbies at times, among other issues. So to fix this we really need to become a more helpful group. How are we hoping to do this? We would like to start by asking people to answer posts by new users, instead of simply pointing out that their question has been answered in the past and that they should search the old posts. Also, the boards can become really mean and a bit hurtful at times. This needs to stop. Finally, I know that a lot of the cursing is done in jest, but it needs to stop. Points can be made with out this.

Now on to the fun stuff, the moderator spots will be replaced by a couple of “cruise director” (for the lack of a better term) spots. The spots will be on a voluntary basis and be one guy and one girl per board. If you aren’t chosen initially, do not worry because we will rotate these spots on a regular, predefined interval. It is our hope that this will ensure and everyone is has a chance to contribute on an equal basis.

We will begin the new cruise director spots in a week or two. If you would like to volunteer, submit a feedback.

get this explanation out.  What kind of an organization operates this way?  Surely not one with a PLAN.

The Florida board has always been a friendly board.  In fact, in recent weeks there have even been threads started to WELCOME newcomers.  

Could it be better? Yes.  But I have to wonder how well you communicated your desires to the mods, to first see if they could achieve what you're now aiming for.  Might've obviated the drama and speculation surrounding the sudden disappearance of some popular moderators.

Or did you communicate at all?  This new "direction" sounds like something dreamt up in the vacuum created last week.  Not saying it won't work, but you sure as hell could have done a better job rolling it out.....

I am always one who appreciates making thing better!

That said this posting really does  give me a lot of confidence in Board Admin.

1. If you were planning a change you should have given the current Mod notice.

2. If the change needs some lead time for volunteers than you could have Planned a smooth transition.

3. I think after waiting almost a week to make this post Board Admin should have made sure that the post was 100% grammatically correct.

That is more than true and no mention of clicks either. I still stop by just don't try to get anywhere here at ter. Try filing a complaint to the admin, that got me treated really shitty still have email. Are you moderating personal websites again?

This is a GRATE idea and deecision!!!! By only do this with a "few of the boreds"? Why not do this with ALL the boreds (the TER General bored in particular)?

There's a LOT of cursing done on the TER General Board. Most of it is NOT in jest.

Why so negative? TER Admin has a grate idea. What's dun is dun , so jus give it a rest and muv on.

If the admin could've typed The explanation in crayon that would've been perfect. Seems too little, too late of an answer. Can you type CYA?

I care. I am all for a "good time" for all.

I MUST say that DD was a HUGE part of MY embracing this board
& when I learned that he was no longer Mod here,
I kind of stopped posting.

Seeing THIS renews my faith in THIS board being a place
for me to embrace again.

I do want to say that I BELIEVE the "rotation" of "Mods" is NOT a good idea.
People grow to love & TRUST a particular Mod & RESPECT TAKES TIME BUT...
I do not own this website & I could easily be WRONG about that.

I want to also mention that...
TER is NOT the easiest board to navigate.
It literally took me YEARS to figure out how to properly interact
with fellow TERians HERE.

I just hope it all works out
& everyone can consider THIS, a special place in cyberspace.

The OP is not a native American, hence the grammar is that of one's 2nd or 6th language.  I think the message was easy enough to understand as written.

No, because those same idiotic, mean spirited alias bullies will become the moderator, cause ripple effecting madness and kaos.  

Im thankful I don't need to use an alias. I've got nothing to hide.

I'm not going to point out that Admin did anything wrong. It's THEIR board. They make the rules.
I'm not going to pick on them and make rude comments about their typos and spelling.
Who am I to judge, it's not my place, besides I'm not perfect.

I just hope what ever direction the admin feels they should take, be the BEST direction for the members who use this board.

I agree wholeheartedly with your opinion, well said.

The reason I pointed out the very poor explanation is that it should've been explained to those affected first.
D D should've been informed and not frozen out. That is the proper thing to do, even an employee is given notice when being fired or laid off. It's the decent thing to do. I've had issues in the past with admin as many if us have, I've sent pm's that go unanswered. I will note that not one pm to D D has ever gone unanswered. So, who is doing the newbies wrong? Is it the mod's or is it admin?

I'm all for change when it's handled properly. One of the things that makes this a great place is that we all have a right to our opinions.

For those of us who claim to be educated, is it too much to expect words to be spelled correctly or used in the right context?

I enjoy being a member here and will continue sharing my $.02.

  I was a newbie not too long ago and it took me a while before I got noticed.  You really have to take the opposite route and express your personality and show yourself off in your daily photos, and post replies to comments.  They will come around you'll see.  It's a great group here, don't give up so fast.

I was just about to post the exact same thing. I sure hope they change their mind about this.

I just noticed something...
WHO is accountable? WHO is there to ANSWER to disgruntled TERians?

I want to make it clear that I have found myself IGNORED more than once
by the "invisible" & somewhat unaccountable "Admin" HERE in the past.

I would NOT be posting THIS IF...
I hadn't JUST noticed the box on the top right that USED to say Dirtydago.

SO... I am thinking MAYBE...
THIS is just a way of getting OUT of being held accountable
& having to EXPLAIN some of the practices that THIS board (sadly)
has a reputation for.

I went to AT & T to complain recently about my U - Verse service.
I was told U - Verse is a SEPARATE Co. (conveniently with no address)
& I was wished luck on my way out the door...
UNSATISFIED.

I HOPE I'm wrong, maybe I'm being too cynical BUT,
that box in the corner has me wondering.

That is the issue!

DD was dismissed without notice and a non native american somewhere whose 2nd or 6th language is english(according to Little Phil) posts a week after the DD dismissal.

As you said we don't own TER however the way this change is happening is not professionally managed!

I applaud TER for putting a woman as a moderator for the first time on any local board. Not as exciting as having a first women president for the USA but hey we have to start somewhere. Don't be negative ladies as this is a positive move. We just made history on a men's hobby board

And who is to prevent this “cruise director” from using his/her potion to hurt a rival. This is especially true in cases were a lady has to police her competition.  That would make me very nervous if I was a lady. They way this was put out was less than professional,
