I haven't been to the Newbie board for a while. I got too busy and later when I got the time it didn't look like I had much to offer. I did not there was a host there. It make sense as that board needs one thanks. I an hoping it spreads to all of the boards. The mods often did more than moderate, some where the life blood of their boards. I hope we can regain that with the host hostess program with each board having one of each and from said area or active in said activity. The only exceptions being the unmoderated boards and the GD board.
I know Bigpart52 is the host and HaleyOrlando is the hostess.
Has having a host and hostess brought more activity to the board?
What kind of introduction did the board receive when they finally put then in place?
Other then the names being in brownish orange is there any way tell who they are is you have questions?
Other then what was put on the boards did they explain the job to you when they made you a host/hostess? Is the private "Host and Hostess Only" board useful in your new duties? These question is for HaleyOrlando and Bigpart52 mostly.

I am asking these questions as I am trying to bring it to my home board of "Other Cities" as it is dead and I want it to be more active. I see this program as a way to help breath new life to it. I am hopeful it has been success here so it can be spreads to other boards

Will edit encase TER mods think it is spam as the post is very similar on both boards. I do not want to break the no spamming rule. It will give them a chance to review the posts and make a call.

I'm very happy (so far) with the Haleyorlando as hostess.
I haven't yet interacted with Bigpart52 in his role as host.
Haley has taken the time to answer ever PM I have sent her.
I believe she is doing a great job.
I have noticed a change for the better HERE lately (at least IMO).
I DO think it will matter WHO is host & hostess ANYWHERE.
WE have lucked out with these two.

Finding quality people on the more dead boards may be an issue as there just isn't many people posting. You gave me something to think about. Thank you.
I was its moderator and TER asked me to stay on as host, which I am doing. The newbie board is very different from any other. It's kinda like Dear Abby for new hobbyists and providers. I have been doing pretty much the same as before other than approving or disapproving posts. FWIW, TER did not give me any instructions as to what to do there. They complimented me on the job I did as moderator, so I guess they liked how I handled it.
I don't know what they told Haley and Bigparg52 either, if anything. So, I just read questions, try to answer them, and reinforce what other people offer as advice, and I have some good people on there that answer questions that I have not gotten around to yet. Admin did ask me this. If a situation arises and they think my response is incomplete or incorrect, did I want them to reply openly, or let me know by PM. Obviously, I asked for the latter, so as to maintain the integrity of mine and the responses of my highly unpaid assistants that often offer answers when I have not gotten to a question. I am very cool with that, as they have often given additional insights that I sometimes did not think of.
I'm sure they expect different things from the host/hostess of the regional boards than they do from me on the newbie board. There is not the same need of things for me to do on the newbie board as there is on the regional ones. Regarding the Hos/Hostess board goes, as far as I know, Haley, Bigpart52, Ginger of Atlanta, and I are the only ones that have posted there so far. In fact, I have no idea if any other hosts have even been appointed other than the 4 of us.

What I will ad is very similar to Swimtrekr's response.
However I was NOT a moderator and was approached because I have been a member for over 10 years and have post over 80 reviews in those years. They ask if I would take on the responsibility of being the first host of the Florida board.
There was no formal announcement to the group about Haley and I being put into position. Our names were changed to red for when we posted and the members figured it out from there. Although I suspect there will be more information to follow in the coming weeks.
Other than the original posting from Admin about what the Host and Hostess position were to do, there were a few exchanges of what the position required. I think the same was communicated to Haley as well. They included that we had been posting respectfully and tried to not create drama or tension. Basically to help make the site fun.
As to have the positions brought more activity..... Maybe at times... Not totally sure there woould not have been as much activity without us.
The idea being that we should stimulate the activity on the Florida board through posting and helping our fellow members who had questions. I know both Haley and I have recieved a lot more PM's since taking on the position and have done our best to answer them as honestly and quickly as possible.
These positions are not about us, they are about bringing this community together to enjoy what we are all here for. I feel honored to have been offer this opportunity and hope I have not stepped on anyones toes with my posts.
You and Haley have your names in red here. On the newbie board, mine is still the same as the other posters. It really doesn't bother me, as it doesn't make any difference to me what color my name is. I'm still doing the same thing. It's just my curiosity that's got me wondering. Guess I'll have to ask admin.
So far, it seems as though you two are doing just fine as host/hostess.

There was no warning nor direction, just one day my name turned red. I think I stumbled much till other members decided to join in and get things moving again. I can remember asking Bigpart52 for help early on and he did actually come to my rescue. He is a longtime hobbiest here and knows what most men are looking to experience here, while being a provider for over 4 years here I have some idea of the ladies views and issues.
It's the people on the board who make it what it is so what we do is just add some of our flavor to what is already here. Try to encourage others to join in through PMs and make new people feel comfortable joining in. Go to older posts on your boar and PM them to join in. Lots of people don't like being creative on the starting line but will be very creative with answerer. Start posting questions on the board to get people interested. Make a photo Day where providers from all over the other regions can post. Send PMs to all the providers there to start posting. It's a group effort as has taken place on the over 60 board.
For Florida we talk thru PMs with the Discussion Board Administration with new ideas or changes. They suggest we suggest and then we ask the board via a poll so far. Any changes or rules are up to TER as we have nothing to do with them.

The board cheerleaders do seem very fake with all their "feigned" & "forced" topics. Please allow the Florida board to develop "Naturally" as it has in the past, & it will be just fine. Seems to be working on the other boards.
Also, swimtrekr sure does seem mighty pissed from his post that his name is not in “RED” on the newbie board.

The poster that responded to you seems a bit jaded, but does have an interesting point. Does anyone else feel that that the host and hostess thing is hurting the board?
it was a surprise to all. They picked a hostess that had a major blow up with the Mod that was let go, the host I dont know. It was a train wreck to begin. I do not know where the moderation comes from but it is smothing out. I love that the alias shit is going away almost. I am very glad that the msshwhatever is not a top poster. I think that that topics can be started by all so go for it.
