Hoping Irma provides the GFE Experience for a real low rate!

No significant wind damage except for having a few shingles blown off of the roof.  Lost electricity for a week, and was called down to Philly to work there by my employer.  The week-end afterward, I went to Florida for one of Sexy Toni's parties, and when I returned home, power was restored, and that was it for me and family.

That being said, hope and prayers Irma doesn't go worst case scenario.  Houston was enough...

I have ridden out a number of hurricanes with little fear but this one I'm scared as hell of. Depending on where it makes landfall damage is going to be frightening. South Florida could look like Houston but most buildings will be unrecognizable if it hits as a catagory 5. Who remembers Andrew? it was a small beast compared to Irma. Houston had all the water from Harvey but much less wind damage. This storm will do both to Miami.

Finally found water and plenty of it. If you need water most grocery stores have these big water machines that work well. Filters everything and no nasty smell. 35cents a gallon. Have 20 gallons now filled from empty water containers in my recycle bin.

Everyone stay safe and hunker down when the storm hits.

Kisses Haley

I've lived in Florida my whole life, and I remember how bad 2004 season was, with Charley at 150mph winds, and that caused enough damage to our house. So i cant imagine how bad Irma is going to be at how bad the winds are now, and will be by the time it hits us. I've been staying at hotels for the last couple of weeks, since Im in the process of trying to fix up a camper I was planning on traveling in, so I'm stuck on plans and money right now.

I was in Pinellas county during Charley and when they told us to evacuate like they are now I packed up my RV and headed for Orlando. No sooner did I get set up at a campground than the sheriff came through and told everybody to run for their lives. Had to leave the RV behind. When I came back it was about 20 feet away from where I left it but other than the awning being completely destroyed it didn't sustain that much damage.

Planning on riding it out this time.

I'm putting my HDDs, photos and keepsakes in a water proof container.  Then I'll cook a steak and drink a good bottle of red wine with my companion (in a safe location in the house) and hope like hell we (and neighbors) keep our roof and power.

Best of luck to all!
