I'm yet to try an agency. Thus far it's only been ndependents which has been fantastic. I'd like to hear from others though on which is preferred or if there is a difference.

Just my preference, but indies all the way.  I know many guys have had good luck with some high profile agencies, more power to them.  Since there really aren't any in the Tampa area and plenty of indies, I haven't had the need to use one.
