Any guy overseas that got a letter from his gal back home that she met someone else and was breaking up/divorcing him. it was called a "Dear John letter".....

Why are men sleeping with escorts are called JOHNS.   Not all men give an anonymous name as JOHN especially in this country where screening, verification and references are unwritten rules to engage an escort.   In the British isles men seeking escorts are called PUNTERS.   No sure how that evolved.

I have not heard an escort I contact call herself as JILL!

Because men would lie about their name or use a false name when seeing escorts.  John used to be one of the most popular names for men, and therefore the most popular alias.
