I couldn't agree more with you about early detection, and preventive care.   Some of the elders in my family (including my mother and God Mother) are still with us because they took the steps that you recommended, and early detection allowed them to get the medical care they needed in time in order to overcome this dreaded disease, and to recover as you have.  Your post is absolutely spot on...
