Take the time to go and visit a providers web page? I only ask
This because it clearly says that I am taking some time off. And yet I still get requests.  So
I know that we gals do our homework checking references and your profile page(only certain sites contain these), but it really helps both parties to kinda of have a feel for each other before first engagement meetings.
Your thoughts....
I also have a personal page that is just recent that clearly states my time off. It just nice to keep
Up to date on certain things , travel schedules, donations, gifts, and so more.

I look over a provider's webpage, reviews, ads (preferred411, date-check, ter) even check if you are lurking on backpage. I'm at the point where I want a drama free experience, so it help to check everything out.

If it is a provider I have not seen before, I try to thoroughly review the website.   If a gal is a regular, I rarely check it.  I usually just email or text depending upon my past experiences with her.

for providers I've never met.  I have some rules which include having at least a decent number of TER reviews or I won't consider seeing a lady (also an age rule).  But I always do as much research as I can before signing up with someone who is new to me.  My only complaint is that sometimes when I go to a provider's site their calendar is way out of date (saw one the other day that had August 2011 as the latest update).  
I am sure there are many hobbyists that are less careful about research than I (otherwise why so many ripoff reviews?).  But for me, doing due diligence as to the provider's credibility & reputation is a small price to pay to avoid ripoffs.  And so far I've been very lucky.
But to the basic question, I'd bet that less than half of the hobbyists read the web sites, many are being driven by their little brain when deciding to see someone or not.  We men are weak in that way, if your pics look good enough we'll deny the obvious warning signs to try to see you.

There are lots of guys out there that are thorough in their research, and of course, a lot that are not.

Elle, if you are taking some time off, you could request to be temporarily delisted, so your info is no longer available on TER.  Reactivate when and if you return.  I would also suggest you cease posting while on hiatus.  If you keep posting your pics, it sends a message that maybe you would accept a date or two here and there, IMHO.

to say that I may check a provider's website thoroughly when I see her ad, put her on my "must see list" if I'm still interested in seeing her, then not check it again until I am ready to send her a request to meet.  Then I will check her calendar page to see if she will be in town when I will be there.  If the dates match, I send her an email with all my info as found on her website.  I really don't like filling out the form.

I'm a companion, so I can't answer your original question. However, I'd be happy to give you pointers from a companions perspective. I never post, on my website, when I'm out of town. Instead, I set up an automatic vacation response through my email. With this method I don't have to worry whether they read my website thoroughly and they don't expect a returned email immediately. If your phone number is public, set up your voicemail stating that your unavailable until a certain date.

your time off message is a bit obscure.

Working my from left to right, I hit each tab.  Seeing your rates, your photos, your about section - and ll make me want to contact you and see you.

Then, I come to the contact page - and I send off the message (I didn't because of your post here...), and I stop looking around, as I have seen all I need to see - a lovely lady that I want to see,a nd how to get in touch.

So, I looked more closely, because of your message here, and realized that there was this little tab all the way to the right titled "Special Notice".  Now I would not even have thought that this was what it is - I immediately thought "specials" as in rate specials.

So, since most men think with the little head - and since they have seen your pictures, the blood is no longer in the right place, they miss that tab.

So, maybe you should be a little more obtuse, and put it right on the front page - and probably even some of the other pages, like contact, rates, and about.

ps - I am really bummed that you will be a couple months.  I am going to be in your area the beginning of February, and you were on the top of my todo list!  

If I have not seen a lady before I use every source available to find out everything I can about the lady.  If the lady has a website I will read every word on every page - rates first and photos last.  I'm going to Google that phone #, then TinEye the photos, then go to several national and local review sites, check P411 and DateCheck.  I will also look at some her forum postings to get some sense of her personality. By the time I make contact with the lady I am confident that she is legit and generally provides the services that interest me at a rate that I'm willing to pay.  If she is a CBJ only lady I move on, if she appears to be high volume I move on, if there are credible reports or forum postings that indicate divatude I move on, if her rates are above my paygrade I move on.  Comprehensive research greatly increases a hobbyist's happiness quotient!! I know it has for me.

Please forgive me if I'm out of line for saying so BUT...
his post came across as COMPLIMENTARY to you IMO.

When I decide to start seeing My old friends it will be on my terms and nobody else's business. When it's open season which it may never be again because I have made so many wonderful friends within the last year or two, I'll let you know. But like I said, I may be seeing close friends now do why should I stop posting???

You are right, what you do should be on your terms and IS no one else's business.  I said what I said because I got the impression you were taking a total hiatus from the biz.  If you are going to continue to see close friends that's up to you.  But please don't be too hard on the ones that ask for a date like you mentioned in the original post.  If they know you are seeing a few, they are probably hoping you will see them as well.

Keeps the attraction and desire alive. I am only visiting with closest of friends now because of how fragile my body is , and I know that my friends are very loving and caring and safe. When I am ready I will be allowing select people into my circle if friends. At my discretion with many references of general gentleman like character.

On the newbie board, we would say this is doing your homework.  This applies to both newbie and veteran hobbyists when considering contacting a lady for the first time.

Once we have met, though, unless your site includes a page with your schedule, we may not be as diligent, especially if we we stay in touch via e-mail periodically.

What he SHOULD have said is that she puts her 'notice' on the last tab, in black on a dark background (stupid), and NOT on the pages where any smart person would know that people look first.
