definitions of what those two terms mean, and do we  see them as mutually exclusinve as you seem to?  Hard to have a meaningful discussion without agreement on definitions of the terms being discussed. JMHO.

My parents do that for me.  LOL

Companionship and friendship can mean different things to different people...I do see friendship as part of companionship, but companionship does not always come with friendship.  

I dont go into a date expecting anything more than providing companionship, but every so often it happens where we take the time to get to know each other, and a friendship does develop...by that, I mean, we keep in touch between dates and have a genuine interest in how the other is doing.

Every now and then you stumble upon a great date that turns into another and another.i know form experience that most of my gentlemen friends come see me for more than just sex.
And after almost two years in this hobby, I have met an exclusive handful of gentlemen that I  pleased to call friends. They are the special ones that go out of there way to make  to make my day special and to make me feel special. And that means baking me my favorite desert or even giving little gift cards to places that I enjoy. It's not always about the money. I have friends that I spend time with just because I enjoy their company. That is friendship, plus I know that they have my back and front at all times

But TER or any other escort site is not a place to go looking. Friends aren't developed overnight so expect to see someone for a while before that bond takes place. Yes, I am not here looking for friendship so $ is important with any new man I meet. Do I have lunch off the clock or sit and enjoy a man's company after our time ? Yes, but if that is taken for granted then things don't fit so well.
