A lady I see is wonderful, perfect in just about every way. She does have a little something that kind of bothers me, but I don't think I can do anything about it, and I don't think she will either. She admits to smoking pot on her off days and has developed a phlegmy cough that comes from deep down in her lungs. Not a hacking cough, but an occasional cough. She always says she's coming off a cold, but I think the pot is the culprit. So, do I say something or just forget about it and enjoy the action. I used to smoke cigarettes and I'm sensitive to the smell and taste, so I try not to see cigarette smokers, but this is more troubling to me. I've been staying away, but she is spectacular and I miss her.

How well do you feel you know her? Have you established a friendship that goes beyond the borders of client/provider?  If so, approach her with your thoughts and concerns gently.

If she is ready for change or thinks her cough may be more than a cold your words could help her seek alternatives to smoking.  If; however, she is happy with her life then be prepared for that as well.

Ulitmately, it is up to you to decide whether your concerns or your desire to be with her take precedent.

Smoking anything can cause cancer..

I know if I cared I would at least mention that you noticed she has had that cough for some time..Maybe go get a chest X-ray to be sure everything is fine. Your showing you care without being nosy

Some pot may be laced with other chemicals to make it more potent..It could have mold spores that you suck in when you smoke it..The phlegm could be a sign of an infection.

Either way she may or may not listen..You are there to enjoy your time and leave..As long as your time is enjoyable and you don't smell or taste smoke your answer could go either way.

How much do you enjoy her company ?

....do bong hits w/her & have some great sex w/her after! It's a win- win !!! ;-)

while I don't smoke much at all anymore (never cigs)... recently I was with a lady who excused herself to go downstairs... I wondered what she was doing so I peeked and could see her on the sofa with her pipe... I said, 'excuuuuse me, ever think of sharing?"

she laughed and said, 'I never thought in a million years you did this cuz you hate cigarettes' ...

a little hit... and WOWZA !!! the sex is very good, and super intense... like college days...LOL

and there is no way I could get her to quit.. even if I wanted to... now when I want that special flavor of playtime - I know who to see

to me, if I really liked this lady, a cough would be the last thing that would bother me...(unless, of course, it was tuberculosis, and just never stopped!!! :-(  I really think there are some who place the bar too high!  This is someone you are having a no strings relationship with...not someone you are looking to marry (I don't think LOL)  Unless she is charging extra for the cough, I would just say..."Pass the pipe sweetie...and lets have some REAL fun!!!  ;-)

Like others have said, if you really like this lady and she is your present ATF then, deal with it!!! If yall are close then maybe mention to her it concerns you.. BUT this may make her madd.. But good luck to you...

When are you gonna haul that HOTTTT little ass of yours back down here???!~!! ;-)

good advice...I think too much is made over pot smoking anyway...just legalize it, tax it and move on...don't even want to think of how many joints I have put away the last 30 years (jamaica stuff is great) and find it far better than drinking

But then I'm a child of the 60's. lol

Then you are on the young side LOL

...I don't hear THAT much, lol

Good Question  Wilco.  Two thoughts; 1. I am hyper sensative to cig smoke, so really don't like being intimate with someone who smokes (of course there have been exceptions)  But I don't think any thing you say will get her to stop. Pot is an addictive substance.  The cough could be indicative of a more serious chronic condition.

2. And I am not being holier than thou, and I know this hobby has its share of vice, but I would be a little worried that someone who uses a controlled substance AND is a provider, no matter how wonderful, has added to your risk factor.  Unless she is growing it herself, she has to be buying it. I don't think LEO is out there looking for the individual user but purchasing it forces her (and by association you) to come in contact with people the LEO is looking for.

It's a difficult position you are in, to be sure.
With some of the sage advice you've given on this board and others...it's probably a safe bet that you already know how difficult (aka impossible) it is to change other people.

Since nothing you do will probably change the behavior...about all you can do is decide for yourself what's most important to you.
Maybe if she really is that special you can find a way to overlook these issues. If not, as difficult as it may be, then keeping your distance is the best thing.
Everyone has something that others have to 'deal with' as no one is perfect. We all have to decide for ourselves what our boundaries are.

If you do decide to see her again, buy her a little 'gift'. Pick up a bottle of the amino acid L-Cystine, 500mg. Tell her to take one each morning on an empty stomach. A provider friend of mine turned me on to this...and it has all but eliminated my 'smoker's cough' in less than a month.
This way you aren't 'preaching' to her...but showing concern for her health. Once the cough is gone...that's one less thing for her, and you, to deal with.

Good luck, and happy hunting.

I've been clean and sober for 23 years, and there are certainly ways of letting the lady know that your genuine concern is for her health, rather than the quality of your meetings. Quite simply, mentioning that you noticed that her cough seems to be getting worse, might just make a light go off.

Be sure that you only approach the cough issue, as anything that may appear to come off as counselling will definitely go in the wrong direction. Trust me on that one.

I think it's okay to nicely tell her that her smoking has stopped you from seeing her.  This is her livelihood and she has a right to know why a regular customer has made a decision to stop seeing her.

Tell her to use Mucinex...it's a 12 hr over the counter med that will dry up he phlegmy, also Claritin over the counter.....Neither should be bought with the " D " after it's name.

Marijuana is NOT physically addictive.  This is a documented medical fact.
Yes Mucinex is best.

From Brown University:
"Someone who smokes marijuana regularly can have many of the same respiratory problems as cigarette smokers. Persistent coughing, symptoms of bronchitis and more frequent chest colds are possible symptoms. There are over 400 chemicals that have been found in marijuana smoke. Benzyprene, a known human carcinogen, is present in marijuana smoke. Regardless of the THC content, the amount of tar inhaled by marijuana smokers and the level of carbon monoxide are 3 to 5 times higher than in cigarette smoke. This is most likely due to inhaling marijuana more deeply, holding the smoke in the lungs and because marijuana smoke is unfiltered.

Is marijuana addictive?
No one would argue that marijuana is as addictive as alcohol or cocaine. However, it's wrong to say that it is not at all addictive. More and more studies are finding that marijuana has addictive properties. Both animal and human studies show physical and psychological withdrawal symptoms from marijuana, including irritability, restlessness, insomnia, nausea and intense dreams. Tolerance to marijuana also builds up rapidly. Heavy users need 8 times higher doses to get the same effects as infrequent users.

For a small percentage of people who use it, marijuana can be highly addictive. It is estimated that 10% to 14% of users will become heavily dependent. More than 120,000 people in the US seek treatment for marijuana addiction every year. Because the consequences of marijuana use can be subtle it is more difficult to recognize signs of addiction. Cultural and societal beliefs that marijuana cannot be addictive make it less likely for people to seek help or to get support for quitting."

As always I am impressed by the knowledge and quality and insight the members of this board contribute.......I think we should run for office ladies and gents....

...and gals. I think I'll go with honesty is the best policy and mention my concerns without being judgemental. Thanks one and all.
