A new rule Ter has and want your opinion...

I noticed this am that when I posted something I made an error.  So I went back to edit it and the "edit" button was gone.  Thinking there was an error I sent a comment to "contact us".  I was shocked to find out that they replied with if you need to edit your message contact your moderator.

Now I feel sorry for Sly and all the other moderators.  Who is to say that a simple typo is made and we want to correct it.  Geez, these poor moderators are going to get tons of PM's for something so ridiculous and cause them much grief.  It is a huge waste of their time as I am sure they can have other issues to address instead of helping everyone edit their posts.

What is your opinion???

That was a very nice feature that they had.  Too bad they got rid of it.  I doubt I'd bother Sly but I might have to reply to my own post if I had something to add or correct.

Atlanta Board as well.  If it is changed I don't like it & would like to know the reason.

I did contact them this am and I was told to contact the moderator to make changes.  I then contacted them again that this is unnecessary work on the moderators behalf.

And I just got another message from them that it is a glitch in the system.

I am happy to hear that everyone won't be driving the moderators absolutely crazy.

He has all the charisma this lady needs to keep me on track.

I'm the biggest offender to posting and then checking for corrections..

...we all make'm and we can figure out the gist of a post in most cases. I hate when people on some sites feel the need to be 5th grade teachers and give us grammar and spelling lessons. Are we not human?

I haven't heard anything of this. I'm also hopeful that it's just a glitch, as I am not in the mood to be the editor on the board. Enough work just being the mod :-)

Cheers,

Sly

{rant on}
I must be one of those fifth-grade teacher-types because I can't stand seeing horrible spelling or terrible grammar.  To me it is an indication of a poor education or a lazy mind.  I'm not even is a 'language-centric' professional field, but the deplorable state of fundamental writing skills shown all over the internet does tend to depress me a little at times.

Basic usage of homophones such as: bare and bear, threw and through, or to, two, and two.
Mis-use or non-use of contractions such as: you're and your, or they're and their.

ARGH!  I might not mind so much, but just this week, I caught myself using "your" in a business letter when "you're" was needed.  Yikes!
{rant over}

I do like the edit feature because I make plenty of mistakes too. Like ending sentences with prepositions or using sentence fragments.  But don't you think our english teachers would be crying in their coffee if they read half of our stuff (not the content, but the language).

{Now I am furiously re-reading this post for typos ;)  }

Your point was made and that's my point, errors notwithstanding. For the record, I carefully examine my posts for errors and spelling, but I cut my fellow posters some slack because they may not have had the advantage of a classical education. In business, in a profession, more attention to grammar and spelling is required, but here on a recreational board I say let it fly.
