Florida Sheriff with a sense of humor . . . .

On a television interview last night, a Florida Sheriff said publicly that if someone is trying to break into your home, you are more than welcome to shoot them and nothing bad will happen to you.  Then he added, "I recommend you take the Sheriff's Department gun safety course because you will earn how to be more accurate, in which case you will save the taxpayers some money if you end up shooting at a perpetrator."

This followed an incident of a homeowner shooting at a guy breaking into their house and MISSING him.  The guy was eventually caught after breaking into another home nearby.  Ther person who fired the gun did not identify themselves under the false belief that they would be in some kind of the trouble.  The Sheriff was assuring his community that they have permission to shoot somebody breaking in, but there is less paperwork if they are accurate.  Lol
