only the states that signed the agreement will have these changes.  Florida has yet to sign so it will be business as usual.

I think it will only be a matter of time before it is nationwide; the nosey-busy-bodies who have nothing better to do all day than flag ads will make certain of it.

However, if there had been some policing going on, not permitting explicit language and racy-to-bordering on pornographic photos, I don't think there would be AS MUCH hub-bub about it.

I think a better solution, however, would be to set up a sub-site or a redirect of CL expressly for the adult industry.

The article commented on the sex slave trade, but did they cite any actual cases where CL was used in the commission of a crime related to sex slavery?  Or is it that they are using sex slavery as a ruse to just get rid of the "Erotic Services" section of the CL site?

I don't advertise on CL, but I certainly wouldn't now, if I had to give up a legal name with a credit card number!

The reviews here on TER can be used to establish whether or not a person is engaged in prostitution. It's freely available and if any DA or US Attorney wants to crack down, here's where they'd start....

I got my start on CL-NYC 4 years ago and it was a
God-Send.
I found reliable and sophisticated clients there very easily.
Recently however I decided to peek in on the Erotic section in NYC and I was terribly dissapointed and shocked at the quality of providers posting.
As well, it seemed to be a bait and switch Asian haven. And as we know there is a huge sex slave trade that we should as responsible workers try to discourage and not financially support.
Wouldnt you rather meet a "willing" provider?
After hearing also about the murder of a TER member in Coney Island I would think that legitimate/established providers and enlightened hobbyist would welcome this basic regulation of participants.

I for one think I will support CL in its efforts to "legitimize" their adult section.
I think its good for the industry as a whole.

The valid phone number requirement has been in place for a while; the fee by valid credit card is new. If someone really wanted to do so they could use a "throw away" prepaid phone & a prepaid card you can get at the drugstore.
