I'm wandering into Miami next week on business. I've never been there beyond layovers at the airport. What attractions (other than the obvious ones represented on this board) should a guy visit with a few spare hours here and there?
I'm not looking for fancy or expensive, but the interesting and quirky places that usually only the locals know and frequent. What would you recommend as a good literal or figurative taste of Miami? Could be restaurants, shops, or whatever. Just off the heavily-trodden touristy path. I'll be based in the Miami Beach area. I'll have time to drive a little, but nothing terribly far away, and I have no idea of traffic down there.
Any ideas you'd be willing to share with the board would be great. PM's also certainly welcome. I'm looking forward to my journey south.
