These are unconnected investigations. Different agencies, different laws were apparently broken.....you can't hold one up against the other and reach a rational conclusion about them both.

MC's problem has to do with money laundering, prostitution and eventually tax evasion. Anytime prostitution is alleged there is an implication that underage women were either willing or unwilling participants. The Pentagon is on the trail of gov't employees who purchased child pornography, not so much going after the people creating the porn. Not doing a very good job of it either, as the article acknowledges.

But I understand your concern. I miss MC, too.
