It's just another PC euphemism.  Most of you women rock, and it is unfair to paint you all with the same brush stroke, IMHO.

what we do, although not always. Sexual surrogates make a lot less money typically, and work directly with therapists. There is a qualification process involved as well, before you're taken seriously as a surrogate. It's not as easy to become a proper surrogate as it is to become an escort.

I looked into doing this once upon a time. I just couldn't spare the two weeks it would have taken to get my qualification.

The media doesn't seem to understand much about anything.  They are more interested in getting the story first than in getting the story correct.  Journalism in this country has sunk to abysmal depths of mediocrity.
