.... and thought it was important and relevant enough to mention on the Florida board. It's about the current use of data brokers and what they're doing with your information that could get you caught at home. They're called data bots and they are secretly shadowing every single click, post or character that you type online. They used to be hidden but now they're starting to reveal themselves in lots of ugly ways.
As a provider I already know LE probably employs the exact same software and are probably watching every move each of us make but are also likely confined by privacy protection acts that disallow them from using the information to come for us directly. Anyhow, read the link below and maybe take a few precautionary steps to protect ALL of your online activities. http://www.theeroticreview.com/discussion_boards/viewmsg.asp?MessageID=227223&boardID=2&page=1#22722
This subject was recently featured on a long time and well respected Sunday news broadcast. Every move you make is being shadowed by invisible data bots that track all of your activities which are then used by marketers to sell you things and to send you things that will make your life supposedly "easier".
Look into a software app called "Disconnect". It was developed by a former chief Google guy turned consumer-and-privacy-rights advocate and attorney. It will help you knock those little pests out of your life. On first glance, "Safe Shepherd" looks good. I have also looked at "Do Not Track Me" and "Delete Me" software programs. You have to pay for the services but your sanity is priceless right?
A side note, LinkedIn has a pending lawsuit against them for tapping into their customers personal desktop contacts and sending solicitation messages asking them to join or approve someone's request to link up with you. It's highly intrusive!!!!
You should also be aware of sites like Spokeo that essentially splay ALL of your personal information and a site that can do a trace on someone by way of a phone number, full name or email address. Look for online programs that offer "opt-out requests" as part of their privacy protection software. There is a law suit against Spokeo currently as well.
It's insulting that marketers now believe that we as individuals can't think for ourselves or make decisions about what online services we want to use. It's worse that they're now choosing our friends and relationships for us. Time to exterminate them like bugs!!
It's obviously not the best choice for those who want some privacy. In fact, it's an utter PIECE of SHIT when it comes to privacy due to how it's intrinsically linked to their social networking services. All too annoying at a minimum. Potentially very dangerous.
By default gmail tries to make you be more "social" and you have to fiddle with those fucking settings buried deep somewhere in order to get yourself off that shit
