not long after the young couple were married, the husband noticed that his wife kept a storage chest that she kept locked. he asked her what was in the chest and she told him that after they were married for 50 years that she would show him the contents. on their 50th anniversary he asked her again about the chest, so she opened it and revealed the contents. there were about 5 ears of corn and lots and lots of money. he asked her what the contents meant and she replied that she had not always been faithful during the marriage and each time that she was unfaithful she would place an ear of corn in the chest. the husband thought about it and admitted that he had not always been faithful either and 5 ears of corn didn't represent a lot of unfaithfulness. he then asked her where all of the money came from, and she replied that every time she accumulated a dozen ears of corn she sold them
