Back in the day, a U.S Cavalry officer as part of his duties watching over a Reservation would mount his trusty stead and ride through the Indian village.

Every day when he did this the Chief of the tribe would always give the officer the one finger salute, and would then turn his upraised digit sideways.

This went on for weeks.

Finally the Officer could not stand it any more and just had to find out what that meant.

So he asked the chief, “I know what the upraised finger means, but what does the sideways one mean?”

The chief replied, “ I don’t like your horse either.”
