Bert and Orville have neighboring farms up in Passedumcake, Maine.

One day Bert travels to Boston and hears a speech by the famous socialist, Eugene V. Debs.

The next day, Bert is preaching Socialism over the fence to Orville.

"You know Orville, under socialism, if I have two geese, I'd have to give one to you."

"Is that right", replied Orville, "Yes'r" said Bert.

"Well then", continued Orville, "...what if you had two hens?  Would you give one to me?"

"Ayup", nods Bert.

"And if you had two sheep, you'd give one to me?"

"Ayup", intoned the socialist.

"And if you had two cows?"

"Dang you", spat Bert.  "You know I have two cows!"
