A young Native American approached his father. "My father," he asked, "I would like to know how all of us got our names."

Smiling benevolently, the father said, "Son, it's vey simple. Your grandfather was born when the sun was just coming up, so he was called Rising Sun. I was born during a great storm so he called me Black Cloud.

But tell me, " the elder paused, "why do you ask of this, Hole-in-Rubber?"

Another version of the joke:

A young Sioux boy approached his father one morning.  "Father, I would like to know how I was named."

His father smiled and said, "Son, it is the custom of our people to name a child after something we see during his birth.  When I left the birthing lodge after your older brother was born I saw an eagle flying over our village, so I named him Soaring Eagle.  My father saw a herd of buffalo across the plain, so I was named Mighty Buffalo."

His father put his hand on the boy's shoulder.  "Why do you ask, Two Dogs Fucking?"
