When John Kerry and John Edwards (the losing democratic presidental and vice-presidental candidates last election) first met they small talked for a few minutes, then Kerry said to Edwards, “I’d bet money that you’re a graduate of North Carolina State University.”

“That’s exactly right,” said Edwards, “how did you know?”

“Well,” replied Kerry, “you were a North Carolina senator, you have a very distinctive Carolina twang to your speech, you wear Wranglers, and just a few little things like that.”

“Well, I’d bet money that you’re a Yale graduate,” said Edwards.

“Exactly right,” said Kerry, “how’d you know?  Was it my expensive suit, my expensive tie, my expensive shoes, my immaculate manicure, my perfect speech or what?”

“No, none of those,” said Edwards, “I saw your class ring when you were picking your nose!”
