[Ed.: Everyone in turn seems to take a hit on these pages and I do not want to enrage my Native American friends with a bunch of Indian jokes. Some things are only funny to an outsider. Please tolerate one more, then we'll pick on someone else for a while.]

All the youngsters in the tribe were gathered around an older woman, the storyteller, who was telling the stories of their great deseased ancesters.  Each great soul had a story evolving around their great deeds and each was being presented in turn.  The storyteller addressed each by their birthnames, or Indian names, which in English would translate to:  White Cloud, Sitting Bull, Crazy Horse, etc.

A small voice from the back inquired as to the origin of the names of these great souls.  The storyteller explained that the names were given as a sign from the Great Spirit which would appear during the birth of each soul. "If a bear were to run by during the birth, the infant might be called, 'Running Bear'", she explained.  "When the sign appears, like perhaps a fawn popping it's head out of the forest's edge, the child might then be called, "Little Deer, Little Fawn, or whatever sign the Great Spirit happened to send, relative to the sex of the infant.  If there were several signs, the stronger one would be favored.  Why do you ask, Two Dogs Fucking?"
