Remember the Hatfields and the McCoys,

The feud between the Hatfields and McCoys had been ongoing for almost a century.  The heads of the two families continued the feud even though they were not even born when the feud began, and they weren't even sure why the families were fighting and killing each other.  

One day the two heads of the families realized that the fighting had to stop but they didn't know how to accomplish their goal, and were fearful that they could not trust each other, even if a truce were to be agreed upon.  Nevertheless, they agreed to approach the Wise Old Man who everybody trusted.  They explained their delimit to the Wise Old Man, who thought about the problem and devised what he thought would be the best way to end the feud and needless killings.  He said "the youngest Hatfield boy will marry the youngest McCoy girl" and then the families would have to live in peace and stop the feuding.  The family elders agreed, they made the wedding plans and everybody was happy that they had finally found the solution.

The wedding day came and all the members of both families attended.  It was a happy day.  

After the ceremony the young couple went off to consummate the marriage, while the party continued.Everybody had a great time.

The next morning the Hatfields sent the young McCoy girl home and started the fighting and killing once again.  The mystified Wise Old Man called the two heads of the families together and demanded to know what happened, after all, everybody was so happy and he did not see anything that could have occurred to trigger the revival of the family feuding.  Old Man Hatfield explained why they sent the young McCoy girl home and restarted the feud, saying " When they went to consummate the marriage, we discovered that she was a virgin, and if she aint good enough for them then she aint good enough for us!!"

The moral of the story is Different strokes for different  folks.  But be careful where you tell this true story because there are many people who will say "What's wrong with that!!"
