What are your picks for dining in the Dallas area?

For me, I love:

*Sambuca in Uptown
*The French Room in Downtown Dallas
*Reatta in Downtown Ft. Worth
*My Martini in North Arlington

What about you?

When it comes to dining places I am very old fashion and family style. Many of the places I frequent would be considered “holes in the wall” by most. It is rare that I go to a "fancy or elegant" restaurant. And if I do, I usually have the sense that I would have enjoyed a similar meal just as much for 1/4 the price somewhere else with less frills.

Mama's Daughter's Cafe
The Mecca
Balls Hamburgers (Balls standing for sports memorabilia)
Black-eyed pea

Those types of restaurants are very sufficient.

As a child I grew up on a farm and our meals were plain, seasoned mostly with salt and pepper and I am reasonably sure most here would find them quite bland.

But I still love …

Meatloaf, mashed potatoes, green beans
Pancakes, bacon or sausage & eggs
Goulashes
Hot Mrs. Baird rolls buttered right when they come out of the oven
Chicken fried steak (although I rarely eat it.)

Simple dishes.

The enjoyment of their tastes never left me, nor have they been replaced.

OFF :-)

I also love Al's Hamburgers in Arlington.

BEST Chili Cheeseburger EVER.

but I go to Mama's about once every two weeks.

Meat Loaf is on Mondays & Wednesdays

Oh yeah!

OFF :-)

BTW - I have had a few too many chili cheese burgers with fries. They are great but they are very tough on the figure. They are very hard for OFF to stay off of.
