Speaking just for me, ideally: long enough in the back to cup (just above the nape) and hold onto--not yank. Something about holding a beautiful woman's head in my hand? I know that's something special, every single time.

I've no trouble with "extreme" cuts or styles, but...yeah. Long enough to hang onto is the Gold Standard. For sure.
