I think it is appropriate to take a moment to express appreciation as we approach the day our nation has set apart specifically for the purpose of reflecting on the blessings that we enjoy as individuals and as a nation.

I am thankful to live in this country. In spite of all its struggles, it is unquestionably the greatest nation in the world as we know it.

I am thankful for the vision, labor and sacrifice of all those who came before us. For it is because of their efforts, the foundations of this nation were laid and we are the beneficiaries of those efforts.

I am thankful for all those who faithfully served our country (whether we deemed the causes just or unjust) and even more thankful to the families of those who gave their lives, some of whom I counted as friends, in the effort to maintain the freedoms and the privileges that my family and I currently enjoy.

I am thankful for my family and the privilege we have been given to live in peace.

Finally, I am thankful for the opportunity to gather on a specific day and remember all the blessings we share. I am thankful!
