Why have I added a 'selfies' gallery to my web site?

In this industry, a lot of times provider photos can be very misleading... Without actually intending to be misleading. As a provider, you seek out professional photographers that will make you look good and thereby generate business. The problem is, Photographers (without the help of photoshop) are REALLY good at what they do and produce sometimes unrealistically stunning portrayals of otherwise average looking people aided only by wardrobe, lighting and camera angles. And good for them... That's a real talent and I'm happy they're making a living doing it!

However, It represents a real problem that no one seems to be talking about in the industry. How do potential suitors know from a photo how his date is going to look? How can he be sure he will not be disappointed? Is it the responsibility of the provider to have more accurate examples of their appearance or is it the responsibility of the client to assume these photos are art and thereby better-than-life examples of what this person looks like?  

Some would argue this is where reviews come in to play. If a lady looks much different from her photos, some would say, you are likely to find this warning somewhere in her reviews. Right? No, this is not sound logic, unfortunately. Most reviews that are written/published are individuals who have had a positive experience and most of the negative experiences go undocumented. Hobbyist are afraid to write less than flattering reviews for fear of repercussions... After all, the lady in question has his business information, his telephone number and a lot of other personal details he is fearful will be misused after the emergence of an unflattering review. Most men are simply unwilling to take that risk. Additionally, most hobbyists are kind souls that don't want to fuck up the business of an otherwise kind lady with a bad review, even if her photos are grossly inaccurate.  

So what's to be done about this? How do we address it? My response to this problem is in the form of two open letters; one to my fellow providers and one to hobbyists.
