Let me in.
Let me on.
Let me wrap myself around you.
Let my body be your body armor.
Let me plug my fingers into your spine
And move you
And guide you
And protect you
Let me hold onto you
As I fight the morning to take you to the wrong side of the sunrise
Or
You can choose sleep
Or try
Slumber evading you
While clocks tick
And your heart fails to sync
With the phantom beats of my stilettos fading down your hallway
The ghost of my breath evaporating off your pillows
Silence where my whispers were
A wall where my eyes found yours before they found the doorknob
Try to rest knowing all I left behind was the scent of my hair on your sheets
And the stain of my lipstick on the buttonhole of your jeans
Will you find dreams while wondering if my lips are caught between someone else's teeth?
Thinking of whose fingers are wound in my hair now?
I will leave quietly to let you lie, alone, upon dry sheets. All you have to do is let me go.
And I will let go if you do.

But you have to choose now.
