Is this considered role-playing then?  I'm not sure if it is or if it is considered an altogether different niche.

Also, are there any that are really into it, and know the details and back-story of these franchises?  I know this isn't for everyone but just wanted to give it a shot.

I never cosplay for an appointment.

But if you talking about as a side hobby, I hope to major do my first major costs this summer. Fran (FF12),  
Felicia(darkslayer), and hild(ah my goddess) are my dream costume but since it will be my first time a sailor scout will probably do.
 
Love LOTR but the costumes can be too tricky for my level(unless I play gandalf)
You might also be interested in the show "hero of cosplay"

Considering my daily wear makes me look like an anime character, anyway, I dress up as Sailor Moon a lot.
