Are there any decent adult bookstores in Chicago where a woman might go to let off a little steam? All of the ones I found so far seem to be for gay men (not that there's anything wrong with that) rather than straight men & woman.

Brown Bag Video in Ottawa (hwy 71 off I-80), next to a strip joint (Silver Slipper) has booths in the back. Yes, there will be bi/gay men, but women there, too. Then there's 15th Street Video in Melrose Park. They have a theatre area and booths.

I don't know if I will or not - I was hoping to find a place in the city proper that I might just go to sometime to check out, and wouldn't want to have to find a friend I could bring with me necessarily.

For some reason I thought the Melrose Park place was closed? I heard they had saunas or whatever but got closed - maybe I'm wrong?

15th in Melrose is not closed.  However, there may only be one Gloryhole available or it may have been permanently seal under city orders. You can play in the sauna or in the theater area.  No adult bookstores like you're looking for in Chi.  There is another bookstore by the Gary Airport, more raunchy and hardcore, not as nice as 15th.

You might try Googling it to see if they've closed. I remember a large-breasted frequent poster to this board used to do what you're looking for. Maybe she'll chime in.

Hm! Okay - well, then I might check it out. I was kind of hoping for something in the city just because then I wouldn't have to drive and I guess I'd feel safer about going by myself. But, I'm really curious about the one on the 15th so I guess I'll try and find a friend to go with me
