third world country.  I am talking like places where they work normal jobs for 2-3 dollars a day.  Surely you can negotiate some 5-10 dollar rates in these countries!  LOL

How the heck does one get over this sticker shock?

I came back from Germany after having a great time at FKK clubs, where you get a hot euro lady for $130 an hour. The club has steam, sauna, jacuzzi, food, and beer included in the entry fee. A total pampering experience. Then one lands in the US and gets a sticker shock at the rates here.

Same thing happened when I returned from Poland a year ago. For $100 you get an outcall to your hotel with a totally hot Polish or Ukrainian lady and $70 for incall. Well it took me a couple of months to get over the sticker shock when I returned from Poland. Hope it does not take such a long time now :)

There have been a lot of threads here about how cops spoil the escorting scene. Almost everyone wants prostitution legalized here. Be careful what you wish for. The Europe experience proves that legalizing prostitution is good for the customers and not so good for ladies. It increases supply and competition and brings rates down.

I hear you about the ROI. Poland and Caracas blew me away. One of my tough buddies said he cried as his plane was taking off from Brazil heading back to the states lol. I'm sorry, there are some incredibly beautiful women here in the states with every skill known to man, but it comes to a point of diminishing return to pay some of these way out of norm donations imo. But to each their own.

Lol. I'm just imagining phone-sex hotlines being run by Indian telecommunications workers... hmmm...

The cost of living is also a lot cheaper in places like Poland and Caracas and Brazil... so I don't think it' just 'legalization'.

For Germany & the Netherlands, I think it's more of a border-issue (expansion of the EU) than legalization, although corporate brothels definitely cut down rates too. Girl in England, Australia, Canada & New Zealand seem to doing quite alright, though, despite decriminalization.

P.S. - I feel your pain. It was really hard paying 10x as much for taxis and 5x as much in rent when I came back from the Middle East. Sure is hard to get a cheap 'ride' in the states ;-)

that legalization does not always lead to lower rates. The UK and Canada are perfect examples.

I am not sure about the expansion of the EU leading to lower rates in Germany. FKKs have been around much longer than the EU and the German standard of living is higher if not equal to the US. I don't have the standard of living numbers to back me up, but that's the gut feel I get.

I would not use the word cheap, I think it is "better value."

I would also not dismiss India the land of tantra and kamasutra. I know friends who have been to China and that is different and very exciting story all together. With providing and China even though outsourcing is not happening "insourcing" is. A lot of Chinese girls coming to the US and providing out of apartments.

For the exception of Brazil and Venezuela, fuel has historically cost more in other countries than the US. Cost of living isn't completely in play.  I have been to France under the franc and the euro and costs were still lower than the US, including Paris and Nice.  Now I would say they are comparable.

I would say social acceptance also comes into play relative to price. You can freely watch hardcore xrated movies on network television late night in many European countries. Interracial relationships in general...no big deal.  I still feel there is a taboo tariff to sex in the US.

Brazil, i.e. Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo are not cheap anymore.  They're both more expensive to live in than NYC.  Per Mercer, as of 3/12, Sao Paulo ranked 12th, Rio 13th, NYC is 33rd most expensive.  Blame the weak dollar, and Brazilian inflation.  Their economy is growing too.  I've been going to Rio frequently for the last 11 yrs. My last trip was last month, my expenses in Rio are now comparable to Chicago.  IMHO, Rio will get more expensive as the World Cup and the Olympics get nearer.  Rio is also attempting to clean up it's image ahead of the games.  They've raided and closed some venues, even though prostitution is not illegal in Brazil.
Hate to burst your bubble, Asiantantric, but Rio's Termas are now more expensive then the German FKK. Depending on where you go, an hour session can cost you $160+, not including drinks.  Also the Termas are unique to Rio.  There are other options, but you'd have to speak Portuguese and would need to spend time looking for the gems.

Thanks for the info about the Termas...it is helpful. I know it is very difficult to beat FKKs.

The FKK's have the Termas beat in amenities.  But if you love the female ass, you have to go to Brazil.  If you don't like female ass, you will after a trip to Brazil.  Prior to my first trip to Rio, I never really noticed a woman's behind.  Now it's the first thing I look at.  Here in the US, we're condition to look at women's tits.  In Brazil it's all about the Bunda, (ass).
In the Termas, you're more than likely to get a PSE.  She'll want to cum as much as you do.  And if you don't get two cups, she'll be insulted.  Anal sex is on the menu, the provider may insist on it.  BTW, they're called Garotas de programa, (GDP.)  Since my trips to Brazil, I don't look at our gals (pro and civie) the same way.
Rio has Germany beat in the Beach scene:  Copacabana and Ipanema. and weather, if you go during their summer, (our winter.)  If you go to Sao Paulo, you'll find more Japanese Brazilian mix.  Imagine a Japanese female with ass.  Brazil is more of a melting pot that the US.  Another thing about Rio, its a narcissistic society.  I've never seen a city with so many workout gyms.
A trip to Rio is no longer cheap:  round trip airfare: $1100+,  Hotel:  $175 a day.  Apartment rental is cheaper at $60+/day.  All this will increase during the World Cup and Olympics.

Yes the free market is a beautiful thing. Once you allow supply and demand to take over and allow goods and services to move across borders freely to balance demand and supply , prices generally fall.

I have to try Brazil sometime soon. I hear their termas are really cool.

Vegas has Legalized prostitution but their Cat houses Rates are way too high even comparing with Chicago or Vegas Strip Girls. Not sure legalization will bring down the rates that much as Europe has... Europe just got flooded with Girls from every direction and the Europe Economical hardship is fueling this profession too..

Thanks for the info Kosher. Do you have some recommendations in Canada or informative links .... it would be a great help?

About the cat houses in Vegas, the reason they are priced high is because the guys who don't know to navigate the escort world go there in huge numbers due to safety reasons. Since there are no other places like that in the US, Cat houses can charge a bomb. If prostitution is legalized all over the US we would see a flood of girls from all over the world come here. That freedom would ensure that America continues to be the last best hope for man (LOL)

Send you a PM.

Canada they have a different board then TER...

They figure about 20,000 women in the Vancourver area work part time out of their homes, and the going rate is $150 an hour.  JEEZZZ!
Guess it's better than waitressing, but still...
thanks for sharin gyour European experiences.
Very interesting to see how things operate in other areas.

My fantasy incall location would include all of those amenities (though the energy costs of steam, sauna and jacuzzi may be a bit much), and sometimes, I wonder how it would be to work as an American provider abroad in a few different FKK clubs.

You should try it out. In fact some FKKs have accomodation for girls on site. Think of it as a working holiday. go sight seeing during the day and work late evenings

I concur about sticker shock. Rates here are unbelievable.

trying to create drama. If you have nothing to valuable contribute best to say nothing. The OP opened my eyes to a new possibility and others have good inputs....so a very informative discussion so far. Can we keep it that way please?

Great thread and it got some longtime TER hobbyists involved in a discussion. I like it...but unfortunately ...I have nothing to add.  D'oh!

we like you and are thinking about your livelyhood.

Gotta love all the discussions lately about End Demand and LE undermining the hobby. From my point of view, sticker shock is undermining my hobbying more than LE or a bunch of outspoken pols ever could. If you want to see who's undermining the hobby, look no further than the ad boards. Providers are going out of their way to help LE and End Demand shut us down, thanks for saving me a ton of money ladies :-)
