There are many many levels of participation in this "hobby". From car dates to exclusive private house parties.

Each person picks what he/she is comfortable with.

Personally, I do not believe in serving caviar and champagne in paper cups. Ambiance is as big part of any experience as experience itself.

Last, but not least, I want to enjoy what I do.

Unless I do, my patrons won't receive full benefit of me. So when I travel on biz, I make sure that (1) I travel without making 10 stop overs and not arriving exhausted (2) stay in nice areas (3) schedule some touristy things and overall have good time.


If I had to stay in roach motel with one towel reused for 3 days and bed linens stained by 100 previous occupants of that rat hole ...ouch don't even want to think of that possibility

I admit, upscale hotels are very nice but they are very expensive for the provider and the hobbyiest.  First, the hobbyiest will need to shell out an additional 20 bucks at least at most of these hotels.  In addition, these hotel have cameras everywhere.  Everytime you park, your license plate is photographed (when you enter and leave).   Most, if not all, have camera in the lobby and in the hallways.  So, they may be nice and seem more secure, but are expensive and invade your privacy.  Just my ever so humble opinion.

I personally love the upscale hotel.  I want a first class experience all the way around.  I'm not looking to fleabag it with some wino bag lady on Lower Wacker.  I think of the experience as a mini vacation.  I love classy upscale environments, and I love classy upscale women.

One of these days I will have to see you in that comfortable environment...but I suspect that no matter what, you provide nothing less than stellar "customer service"!!

Cameras, well yes of course they do, but if your not causing unsightly situations then you have nothing to worry about,
Shelling out $20 doesn't even pay for 2 glasses of Malbec at the bar handsome, I have no problem dropping $20 to feel more comfortable in my environment,
Something is to be said about 4 star establishments, if you want to say your top choice grade A meat then, present yourself at that level.

Would you really be comfortable in Motel 6? Super 8? Howard Johnson? Best Western? Honestly?

Let's face it if the provider ain't happy...ain't NO BODY happy!


I stay in upscale hotels because it sets my mood. I enjoy luxury hotels, who doesn't? Upscale hotels have great amenities: fitness center, pool, etc. It is common knowledge that exercise uplifts you mentally as well as the physical aspect. In return a better experience for YOU!

Really who would go to a seedy motel/hotel. Bedbugs...the latest craze/outbreak? Who knows when the bedspread/comforter is changed? Weeks? Months?

Staying at a lower star hotel would depress me. My attitude would suck.

You're complaining about $20 for parking on a $$$-$ date? Yes, the camera situation is a bit of a concern but as long as you don't look out of place or do something to draw attention to yourself, what's the problem?

There are a some hotels that don't take cash and don't have an attendant on duty full time. Sometimes we're forced to use a credit/debit card to get our cars out of lot/garage and that's a gripe. There are plenty of upscale hotels that have an ATM-like cash machine to pay for parking which means we don't have to interact with a human or leave a paper trail. Ladies, please check the parking situation at your upscale hotel and try to stay where we can use cash and don't have to deal with the front desk. We don't want the attention and you don't want a nervous client worried about he's getting out of there anonymously.

Most expensive hotels are "busy"....that being said, they do not notice the comings and goings of their guests as if you were at a Holiday Inn.  

The more traffic a hotel has, the more the provider gets lost i the crowd.

I always stay at upscale Hotels because I can get a room at one for $40. a night bidding on priceline. I'm the one having to stay/sleep in the room, not the client so I want to know it is clean and of course comfortable. Just saying...they have to earn those 4 stars and I for one, want to appreciate the overall comfort and not worry about anything  

I like decent room service, work out facilities, soft towels & sheets and comfortable beds.  I also like locations that make me feel safe when I am away from home.  Part of my enjoying my job, as it is in any job, is being in a comfortable environment.  It's better for overall morale...which by the way also makes for (generally) better customer service.

Expensive hotels are super nice, usually have quality materials and quality service.  Now, the cheap hotels are usually clocking your ass because they are smaller and see the coming and goings of him/her, that and the other

All in all I prefer nice hotels with many floors!  No one can fault you for going to the wrong floor!
