TER uses a third party service, CCbill, to bill VIP, (or at least they used to) so if TER got hacked your CC info wouldn't be accessible to the hackers.

Do you know if RS2K does the same thing?

I do like the new option for TER being the trade a gift card for membership time.  While it works out to more money per year it is completely anonymous which I like and easier then getting a money order and sending it off to TER.  For me personally I will never give my CC info to anything associated with this hobby.... Just me

The credit cards are not allowing you to use because they were asked not to allow charges for BP, see previous post about Tom Dart and that story.
