So this is the second time this provider randomly texted me telling me she is availabe. So I'm sitting with my wife and kid on the couch around 10:30 at night and my phone rings.  My wife asks who it is, and I look at the text and says "its so and so you saw me from CL I have caramel complexion and petite... blah blah blah...Anyways I deleted it before I even read the whole thing.  The whole time my wife was leaning over to get a look at who the hell is texting me this late, but thankfully I deleted the message before she could read it. I blew if off and told her it was just an old friend but my wife could see on my face that I was visibly troubled, according to her my face turned completely red.

WTF should I do? I deleted the message so I can't call the number.  I'm pretty sure it was the same provider who texted me before a couple months ago and I told her to take me off her call list but apparently she didnt.  I'm so paranoid that one time my phone will be lying around and this whore will text again and my wife will see it.

STP is right. Go to WalMart, get one of those $29.95 prepaid phones, and a 600 minute card for $60.00. Use cash only. Hide it in a safe place. Mine is up high where my wife NEVER looks, or dusts, and I keep the ringer silent anytime I'm at home. Hellova lot cheaper than a divorce lawyer.

Wow!  I mean not saying that all CL ladies are like this but thats one of the trade offs with some of the CL girls that are not professional.  Its better to be safe than sorry and maybe get a new cell phone number and then buy a separate throw away pre-paid phones.  Thats what I think anyway.  Its too bad that you have to go through this but maybe make sure the girl you see is professional enough to know better than to keep texting after you asked her not too!

A few options to consider:

*Have a separate hobby phone.
*Have the phone on silent or vibrate at all times when around family.
*When you hear it ring or vibrate, say something like "oh, that's Jim texting me again".  Don't bother looking at your phone until later when you are alone.
*Have an excuse ready at all times so that you don't stutter while you try and come up with something.  Perhaps someone at work keeps pranking you with goofy texts?  Perhaps your number is new and you are getting texts intended for the previous owner of your number?
*Again....Have a separate hobby phone!  This eliminates all the problems provided you have a secure place to keep it.  You can get a cheap $20 prepaid phone and your problems are solved.

Most of all, see well known providers!  They don't need to send out random texts to stir up business.  Your home life is everything.  It isn't worth blowing it all up for an hour of fun.  It is easy to think you are in the clear after deleting those dialed calls and/or texts, but you just never, ever know.  Get that other phone or keep yours quiet at all times.  Good luck!!

They're not "whores". If you were smart you would have gotten a cheap $20 prepaid tracfone and  avoided the whole thing.

This ad for why you should get a hobby phone and keep it hidden from the SO is brought to you by Dewey Gougem and Howe, divorce attorneys at law.

When your phone bill shows up next month and your wife checks the number and calls, don't say you weren't warned.

If you are not using a pay as ya go phone that is dedicated to the hobby... that no one knows about unless you want them to..well...sooner or later inquiring minds are gonna discover you've been a very bad boy.  Seriously...the prob isn't a provider sending you a text...it's you .  I don't mean this as an attack , but ya gotta develope some hobby savvy.

All you guys are right I should get a prepaid phone, I do it very infrequently once every couple months, so I figured I didn't need a phone dedicated to it.  I never thought that a provider would actually try to contact me though.

All tha above are good ideas.  However all phones have an button that will turn them off or on.  Try using it.  Turn it off when not you do not need it, turn it on when you want to make it a call.  That way it does not matter if you have a pre paid phone or not.

To play devil's advocate, the problem with a dedicated hobby phone is that if found, it's a lot harder to explain away to your SO.  You may think you have the perfect hiding place, but someday, it will be found and then you will have an interesting discussion on your hands.  With a text like that one, you can explain it away as a wrong number or something as long as you don't have her in your caller ID.  You should probably just turn it off or if your phone has one, a "phone calls only" mode.

hey cant you contact your cell phone service and have her number blocked? on most cells you can do that yourself block out the numbers..
I would do that but I deleted the message before catching the number, I just remember it being a 773 area code, her original number had a different area code. I got my phone silent now whenever my SO is around.  I called my phone company and for some reason I can block certain calls but I can't block texts.

or it is a family account she can request a copy of every text for the last year be sent with the next statement.  So at least make sure no one else has access to your account.  p.s.  This includes using cute passwords to reset your account when you forget it that your wife may know.  Make Damn sure your the only one than can access account records (i.e. no shared plans)

Remove the battery and store it elsewhere.  That way even if the phone is found you can say you found it but had not gotten a battery for it to see if it even works.   Dismiss it as no big deal and be willing to throw it in the garbage if you have to.

It's a bit like cutting off your nose to spite your face, but if you are that worried about scrutiny by the SO, just go out on the web and sign up for a couple of these sites that will randomly text you stuff, or send ringtones or whatever.  It will probably end up costing you a few bucks, but it will disguise the 'real' texter at least and you can chalk it up to having 'gotten on some list' as being the problem.  It would also give you a good reason to dump that number without arrousing her suspicions.

After that...like everyone else said....get a prepaid for the hobby.  If you spend $100 a year on a prepaid you hardly use, it is better than having this issue again and the lingering possibility of the SO finding your monthly cell usage and wondering who some of the calls are to.
