Driving in Chicago is going to truly suck...  so much for having a fast car.

Our ambitious governor has signed a law allowing our illustrious mayor to install speeding cameras in school zones which, by the newspaper's calculations, covers roughly half of Chicago streets and will be operational as soon as July 1. The cameras will run from very early in the morning to very late in the evening M-F, well beyond what most of us consider normal school day hous. For those of you hobbying within Chicago proper, watch your speed in these zones. The last thing you need is a speeding (or red light) ticket showing up in your mailbox and having an SO find it. Imagine the questions that will draw.

Any recommendations?
Currently using an escort 8500 (yes, ignore the irony).

I have a Beltronics model.  I think if you get any unit that covers at least 22 frequency bands and allow you to sync the latest maps from a PC, you are good to go.

With every new camera they put up, either red light or speed, it makes the traffic that much worse. Now everyone will be going exactly 30 mph (or even less, gasp!) and it will make traffic even worse. Lovely. When is this big brother crap going to stop?! I got a ticket for making a right hand turn on red where there were no "no turn on red" signs at that intersection. Of course there was nothing I could do but pay it.

Can we not vote for this douche bag in the next election, please?!
