Why would a hobbyist choose one over another of these verification services?

I'm ust a visitor to Chicago with no knowledge of the local scene and hopeful of spendng some quality time with one or more of your wonderful local providers.  I don't want to waste my time nor $$$$ and you have a bounty of attractive women in Chicago which makes it difficult to decide.  If I had 100 nights I could try a different provider each night and have a wonderful time.  Alas, I have only two nights.

As for this post, many of the ladies require referrals from two LOCAL providers which as an outsider I obviously can't supply.  Thus, I am considering one of the verification services.

Sorry to be a bother.

I would imagine that part of the decision will have to do with what service the provider you choose to see is aligned with, and the other part will have to do with how much information you are willing to give out.

I used RS2K when i got started in the hobby. I have heard that DateCheck requires less personal info, or at least that the type of info they ask for is less intrusive for some people who are pretty private about that stuff, but i don't know for sure.

Well, I am a hobbyist, not a provider.  Since no providers replied, I’ll simply add what I know.

#1 http://www.roomservice2000.com/

No question, in and around Chicago this is the best knows verification service. This was once free for the hobbyist, now there is a one time set up fee.  $50.00.  Plusses include a very good reputation and the site is well run and kept up to date.  Minuses include the stated fee and the quantity if personal information needed to be a member.  The number one minus with the system is your requirement to continually use your full legal name and disclose your residence location to each and every provider you see.

Newer, per the site they launched in December 2002.  I think the total pool of both providers and verified members is much smaller than room service.  Plusses include a verification system that makes a lot more sense to me.  To get verified you must have seen a provider, then she has to ‘verify’ you as a legitimate hobbyist.  Far less intrusive personal information is asked for and any applicant that cannot be verified is eliminated from the queue.  Once verified you get a member number, so you use this to as your future proof of being a verified member.  Also they have an optional honorary membership for ‘not yet verified members.’  That is kinda a cool idea for the new people just starting out.  The big minus is the listed fee on the site.  Per what is posted at this time, “Memberships are currently at a reduced rate of $4.95 * a month” that leads me to believe the cost will rise as the membership pool grows.

Similar to Date Check in that the provider verifies the client.  They have some cool software so the provider can use their computer, long onto the system and enter the hobbyists WINS member number and do the verification 24/7.  Another advantage is the provider can see what provider or providers have verified the hobbyist.  So being a member carries a lot of weight, but being a member with multiple verifications is golden. No need to wait for regular business hours.  This service started in Wisconsin and has a large pool of members there.  Perhaps the biggest advantage is the cost. The cost is nothing for the hobbyist.  All the cost if the system is where it should be, on the provider.  Part of the advertisement cost the provider pays is used to run this verification system.

Before your post I have never before heard of this service.  I have yet to find a provider who is a member in Illinois or Wisconsin.  The software seems similar to Date Check.  Per the web site “There is a One Time Verification Fee of $25.00 for all New Membership Applicants.  Upon Verification you will become a network member.  After 3 months a quarterly membership fee of $15.00/month…..”  Man, that seems way too high for a site I never even heard of before.  I can’t possibly imagine this site making it in its current form with no advertisements, no message board, no reviews, and no reason to join.

you need to disclose your phone number, general area you reside in and full name.  You don't have to provide a home address and most providers dont require it if they accept RS2K

Thank you for taking the time to reply and my apology for the mistake.

I have given some thought to this and posted on another board my ‘Dream verification’ system.  Of course, I have zero interest in doing this, so I only offer it in hopes of some site like TER or some entrepreneurial board reader consider this idea.

Anyone here use e-bay? Membership is free and as you do business back and forth the members can leave comments on one another for all to see. Now, pretend a site existed like this where the providers paid to advertise, and there was no fee for the hobbyist. Verification and Reviews would come like on e-bay by leaving comments on one another’s profiles. Access would be available 24/7 via the Internet and the program would be national, on servers located outside of the good old USA where local law could never get their hands on anything.

Providers and hobbyists alike, please share your thoughts…
