Ad posts will no longer be allowed on regular Regional discussion boards on TER please take note of these changes.

We have created new Regional sub-forums for provider ad posts only. Any provider ad post that is posted to the regular Regional board will be moved by the moderator to the Regional Ad posting board. Also, regular posts will not be allowed on the Regional Ad posting boards.

The ad posting Regional boards can be found in the same drop down menu as the rest of the Regional boards.

Please do not hesitate to contact the moderator of your board if you have any questions or you can contact the Staff by using the "contact us" link at the bottom of the page or by Pm'ing the infamous FFP.

Regards,
~Admin

When I hover over "Regional Boards" it just pops up the cities... I don't see anything linking to ad boards. I don't really understand this change and I think it's a bad idea.

Some of the regional boards will now become ghost towns, so you are effectively killing those (not Chicago, but others), which is unfortunate.

Like R, I cannot find these ad boards in the pull down, so perhaps this post is a wee bit premature? I am sure they will appear soon. As for prohibiting any replies to ads, that is the thing I suspect some (providers) might like, but others enjoy the give and take, and impromptu testimonials. I suspect one consequence is that providers will be more motivated to also get involved in the regional discussions, and I wonder how restrictive or permissive the mods will be on that. For example, if someone posts asking about someone, can a provider reply that she could be that someone and link to her ad post?

I think it will end up not being a big deal except for the boards whose topics are almost all ads - they will now die. RIP.

Think about it... If your in the mood for discussion come here. If you want to see ads, go to the new section. This is the best of both worlds. Come on guys- think of the glass as half full! They are just trying to make it easier to find ads and perhaps to stay away from them too (if that's your poison for the moment)!!

Good job TER!!!

I couldn't agree more! I think this is a huge mistake.  The ads often sparks input and conversation.  Now by spliting the two those visiting will just head for the ads and bypass the input altogether.  Just seems like bs to me.

I think that the "regular" Chicago board will start to see tumbleweeds most days.  Has anyone counted the number of non ad posts this board gets in a day or week?

Just like when the new TER layout came out. Everyone cried and complained about how much it blows. Everyone will get use to this and like this as well.

I had suggested a while back that hobbyists could click on a calender and see who is available on a given day.  I have seen providers with their "thank you Chicago" posts and I didn't even know they were in town due to the ad posting limitations and then those ads scrolling off.  Me likes.

The drop down seems to only be available in the newer format of TER.  If you are using the Traditional version you seem to be out of luck.

First off, the Regional Ad Boards drop-down menu is to the right of the Regional Boards drop-down. Maybe it wasn't there earlier but it's now visible.

I think one reason this change was made was because ads scrolled off the first page when hot topics came up. All it takes is one long thread of discussions and provider ads scroll right off page 1 and get missed. Separating ads and discussions will keep provider ads visible for the entire week.

As always, I'm surprised by this new change as well. It appears that a few of you hit the nail on the head. Discussion boards for discussions and ad boards for ads.

There are no real hard line rules except that posts to a providers ad is not allowed. Of course the flip side to that is fairly easy to figure out and I'm not going to paint a picture for you. Your moderator is not going to come down on anyone like a ton of bricks, we are all trying to figure this out as we go along. Please use common sense and I'm sure that will cover 99% of the questions.

If you have any questions, please feel free to PM me and I will try to answer them as best as I can.  The Regional Boards are showing now, and I'm told that everything is being worked on tonite. So maybe we will have some surprises in the morning!!!!

Given that this entire enterprise does not operate in the "legal" world there can be no legal significance.  Is a provider going to sue for libel?  Can a provider sue for being dicriminated against?

Think about it.

I'm thinking...what progressive 80's rock group is she talking about? Oh yeah, Asia, I completely forgot about them, maybe they weren't as progressive as you thought, lol. They're right up there with Foreigner who I get confused with Three Dog Night for some reason...

Here's an idea for Admin. How about a rock n' roll board since most of the guys here were around before hip-hop and rap hit the scene. Hey, if you can have a book board, why not a music board? I for one would love to discuss the merits of 80's rock which BTW, I once believed was crap compared to the great stuff of the 70's until 90's music appeared on the scene and made 80's music sound great.

Let's have a Foreigner board and we can debate whether it's about the band or visitors from Europe :-)

and it has nothing to do with music. Ask Sweets, she'll explain...

Ha, I actually remember Toto, Asia not so much. Africa, yeah I remember that song, it's now taken up residence in my head and refuses to leave much like relatives who overstay their welcome. I'll just fire up a little Foreigner (no, I'm not cooking midget visitors) and block that song right out of my head, I'm gonna block that song right out of my head. Argggh, now I have a commercial in my head damn it! I need...Bruce! BRRUUUCCCEEE... (visualize 30,000 lighters).

Kiss and AC/DC, another two I always got confused. What a blur huh? All these bands popped up out of nowhere and now they're living (a few of them, lol) legends in the 21st century even though they pretty much sucked in the 20th century. I feel sorry for you youngins when all of us old fogies die off because Eminem will be on your oldies stations, LMAO!

Looks like the Asia board is sticking around so all you Antarticans are out of luck. "No board for you!" I'm off to the book board to see who's booking appts, lol... Go read Andrea, you'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll kiss my ass goodbye.
