Good price, confidential, easy to work with? And how often should one be tested? Found a place called STD Express that seems to do a pretty complete test for $249, but before I spring for that, I figured I would ask the assembled experts here for their advice.

thanks

I have found tstd.org to be very efficient and professional.

They usually charge Just over $50 for a full STD panel

I already looked at the local PH office but decided not to go that way. I do not think they are as convenient, and know they are not a sensitive to the need for confidentiality. Plus, what would I say if I ran into someone I knew?

Thanks for the other suggestions.

There is an excellent resource in Elgin called the "Open Door" clinic. I have personally been there and find the staff to be helpful, considerate, and genuinely want to help.

Their focus advertizement avenues focus a lot on the chicago gay, and anyone else with a concern for the well-being of the general public.

They are also really big privacy and accept most all forms of payment including insurances to include public aid.

They have one day a week devoted to testing only and I would suggest making an appointment at least 1 week ahead of time.

Their phone number is- 847-695-1093.

Salud!

That way when you apply for health insurance (or Life) next time you can explain to your SO the reason for that visit listed on the application. Or, she could open the rejection letter from the insurance company and find out for herself. That's if she doesn't see the original bill first.

Alternately, you could also just hope that you are never in the position to be involved in any legal action regarding a personal injury (such as a car accident), because you'll need to sign a release for ALL of your medical records to the opposing party.

To make things easier, I'd recommend just asking your SO where she thinks you should go to get tested. That would save all you all the worry of wondering if/when she'll find out about the doctor visit.
