Here are the results

Would you see a provider who offers BBFS?

34% No F'ing way!
13% Doubtful, but maybe?
14% Sure, but not just because of the BBFS.
38% Hell yes, I would go right now.

Total Votes: 50389

I was hoping someone simply skewed the result for controversy sake.  Man, when I hear there are some viruses that are resistent to bleach, the high level of baby boomers and gen Xers with Hep C,  you really have wonder what the thought process is behind bbfs.

We are a high risk, thrill-seeking community to start. Sure, many of us consider ourselves cautious and are here specifically because we feel like TER helps us keep this reasonably safe, but when you total up all of the risks we have - social, disease, crime, LE - well, there is nothing safe about this hobby.

So a large percentage of us are probably here just for the thrill, the risk, and then there are those who are somehow oblivious to the risks.

Add to that the way in which the survey is worded, where I can answer the same whether I just have no issue seeing a provider who does BBFS, or whether I am actively choosing her in order to enjoy BBFS, and the results are not surprising.

In the end, maybe 1/3 of TER members who voted are looking for BBFS? Yes, it strikes me as incredibly stupid (that is the polite version), but each of us draws the line somewhere, and I am aware that most people consider a lot of what I do pretty dumb and very risky, so I try not to judge.

OPD - I do not get your fear of Hep C in the context of hobbying. You pretty much need blood to blood contact, so if you are keeping yourself safe from HIV, Hep C is a non-issue. And Hep A & B have vaccines, which I recommend strongly to everyone.

Be safe and get tested regularly.

zig

I hope you are right zig, but damn....seems like a large number for the general population relative to other blood transmitted things.  As I understand, those that with high virile loads can transmit it via saliva and because of its size is more infectious(if you will) than HIV.

Do you think people are just saying that to say that or they really would...Either way...Crazy!

The numbers on the poll are not accurate. The poll is not a scientific poll. And it changes all the time. Just a few weeks ago it was 27% no f*ing way to 45% hell yeah. That poll has been up for three months and the results have gone all over the place. When it first went up , there was more on the anti bbfs side, then it got skewed way over to the pro bbfs side, then came back the other way again, then back to pro bbfs, now it is heading the other way again.

The poll is open to everyone with internet access, and you can vote as many times as you wish. Nothing scientific about it. It is totally innacuraqte. Get a bunch of people to vote multiple times and you can skew the results anyway you want to. I myself voted 200 times in a row one day just to prove a point. And it was extremely simple with my smart phone. vote, hit back button, vote, hit back button, vontinue. Only took a few minutes, and I changed the results 1 percentage point (The total vote count at the time was about 20000).

Of course bbfs takes place inthe hobby, and their are some people offereing it and some people seeking it out. Everyone has to figure out their risk level and hobby as safe as they can. But don't use the poll as statistics. Definitly skewed results of a poorly designed poll. While their are definitly pro bbfs people out there, I seriously doubt it is anywhere near 1/3 of the community.

Those of us active on the boards are heavily skewed against BBFS but there are a lot of lurkers who aren't active and we have no idea what they're skew is. "We" are a small percentage of the total community, the lurkers are the dark matter out there and who knows what they're up to. I'd certainly hope that the BBFS people are a very small percentage of the total but there's no way to know.

I agree that the poll results are meaningless, mostly because it was set up Chicago-style.

as part of the community. (in the USA anyway --not worldwide) TER posters, TER lurkers, and people who never heard of TER. Of course I am just guessing. I have no proof of anything (but neither does the poll). I just don't feel there are that many people out there (1/3 to 1/2 of the hobby population) that engage in the behavior, or think it is fine to do so. To say or to think that bbfs does not happen is ridiculous. Of course it happens, and we are all responsible for our own risk level and safety. I just find it hard to believe that it is as prevalent as some suggest. And while I have no proof of that, the stupid poll sure is not going to prove me otherwise. The poll has just become a pet peeve of mine, ever since it appeared in November, and I just get tired of people quoting it and acting like it is truth. I have seen so many posts on the different regional boards and the General board quoting the poll, and some going as far as saying things like, "Numbers don't lie!" "Look what the poll says!" and various similar thoughts, (not that the op of this thread said that), I just find it hard not to respond to post on the poll

simply a form of entertainment.  There is no proof one way or another of the validity of the votes.

As you, and all the others comment, each individual is responsible for their own actions.  And at least for me, I always assume that suzycumsalot is going BBFS with someone.  Be it her husband, BF, SO or GF.  And each guy is also doing the same...that's why there are rubbers.

The reviews that are here are nearly as ridiculous in many respects.  The fellas "fawn" over average to below average looking gals making them out to be something "incredible".  And then they need to tell the readers how "studly" they are by suzy having at least 3 orgasms...while suzy is in actuality working on her grocery list!

There is always a kernel of truth in everything, but to believe "everything" you read...only if Fox news is reporting this :)

LET'S ALL JUST FUCKING DIE NOW!

Seriously,  this is a disgusting way to make money.  Does anyone care about their lives, their loved ones, etc...?

Grow a conscience and buy a pack of gloves!!!!

I wonder what states a majority of those votes came from?

The shock value alOne is too much of a temptation for most people to not shout "Hell yeah I'm there NOW"

There are no repercussions to their answers, they can vote as much as they'd like and they don't need to be registered on the site to do so. You'd have the same results if you asked "should America become a communist nation"

Shrug it off, laugh it off and stick to your own values and set of morals. After all, it's all we actually have of ourselves isn't it? ;)
